in my opinion, I have owned this unit for over a year and so far it has only crashed on me twice. that was because i was pressing a bunch of buttons and it couldn't catch up. if you're just pressing play and blending/beat matching you won't have any issues. either way I am very happy with this unit. before i bought it i knew nothing about CDJ2000 and now i can just walk up to one and play it like nothing, just because this unit is extremely similar to them. again, in my opinion, they have been among the best home units I've ever invested in.

Thanks Phil, I've been waiting for you to review this for a long time! I think you've sold me. One of the biggest problems with being a digital DJ (especially one who is still learning) is the temptation to look at the screen and waveforms. As you say, this unit seems perfect for the price point to learn the manual beatmatching craft. cheers!

I still use CD's and mp3's to DJ weddings. After having bad luck with both Numark and American Audio all-in-one units, this Gemini looks promising. I especially like the USB accessibilty. Thanks for posting this review!

I like this DJ console, really nice it has clean pristine sound like the Pioneers got it is so identical you can't tell the difference. The same as Gemini CDJ 700 which those are the ones I own along with a Reloop dj mixer.

Wanting to get away from the laptop mixing. Was a lot of fun but think it is time for an upgrade. Very happy to see this out, it looks and seems to function well and that is awesome. Not looking forward to playing at any local clubs here but I do enjoy mixing as a hobby and friends, but shhii...wouldn't mind playing at a club once and a while here. I want this so bad. In my opinion, it's an upgrade from most dj controllers. Like phil said, it's a good way to transition to a club setup. I can't afford a pioneer setup, this will do.

My only issue.. Is there anyway to look over or scan through a whole wave form?? In other words what's the best way to scan a track to set a cue to get it ready to be brought in without spinning the deck like crazy to fast forward

I'm surprised Gemini hasn't found a way to both share memory devices between their decks (even on this integrated unit) and also allow changing between MIDI and internal modes on-the-fly. Reported issue. This is something the Versadeck (and its gazzillion other brandings) has no problem with, in spite of its other issues (lack of AIFF support, time-based jog rotation in internal mode, etc). You'd think Gemini would have found solutions to these oversights considering how much else they get right

Hi Kabimbi, the mixer not Midi-enabled, so it can't control mixer functions on your DJ software. That means you use it with DJ software in "external" mode, the software acting as library and decks, but the Gemini hardware acting as your mixer. Hope that helps :-)

no you can't change the mixer.the cdjs are the same with just smaller jogs.and both the cdmp7000(only cdjs) and cdj700 are midi mappable

Ive looked at some work stations/controllers and they have 2 CDJ style jog wheels that can be used to control the 3/4 channels that the unit has. I'm guessing the fact that is 2 CDJ's and a mixer stuck together means its not the same as for example a Numark Mixdeck Quad which is a 'controller'?

Hey Phil, Question. During the video you said that the analog mixer will not be usable in dj software. I'm looking to buy new gear and this one fits in my budget. I've been using Traktor S Pro since early 2012 and although I háve learned dj'ing the analog way, I lost touch of it. Now, I was looking into adding a turntable for all the lp's I have lying around, this device handles it well (so I've heard). So, just in a nutshell, can I use this unit all the way with Traktor ? Yes/No. And what do I need to record my mixes ? Thanks in advance ! I might also go for the Pioneer XDJ-RX, but I kind of wánt the Pioneer RMX-500, because it's been on my wishlist ever since this little brother of the RMX-1000 came out (which was on the list before :P).

I'm not phil but I have one of these and yes you can use this, it just doesn't control the software it changes it externally so there is a setting you will need to change, it doesn't feel any different you just can't see what it is doing on the screen of your computer which isn't a big deal :)

Will this controller still help with the transition to club equipment since this video is already 3 years old? I'm currently using a Traktor Kontrol S4 and the only thing that is stopping me from DJing in bigger clubs is the lack of knowledge i have about club equipment.

+RephleX Here's an article about playing on any gear, in any situation: www.digitaldjtips.com/2015/07/5-essential-skills-for-djing-in-any-situation-on-any-gear/ I wouldn't worry too much about your lack of club gear knowledge - if you're comfortable with basic functions, beat matching, etc then you shouldn't have any problem. You could also see if the venue will allow you to come in early, or for a few days before your gig to get familiar. The Gemini controller is still similar in look and feel to club Pioneer gear, although not exact, but would still give you the general feeling of Pioneer equipment. If you want to get something for home sessions to have a more seamless transition to club gigs, I'd look into the Pioneer DDJ-RX Rekordbox controller www.digitaldjtips.com/2015/11/review-video-pioneer-ddj-rx-rekordbox-dj-controller/, although with having Traktor Pro and an S4 this may not be a consideration for you. You could also just pick up one Pioneer CDJ (or rent one!). Let us know how everything goes :)

Ive been looking for a case to fit the CDMP 7000 but i can not find one. im considering just buying a mixdeck quad case and lining it with some craft foam for a snug fit since the mixdeck is .7in. longer than the cdmp 7000. do you think this is a good idea? A custom case is not in my budget right now.

Ok I need to get this straight, alot of money is on the line. I began mixing starting with the traktor S2. I want to move up, upgrade. I thought about doing timecoded turntables, i still might if i can get a nice "controllerist" mixer (like the traktor z2, rane 62, djm 900) but i like controllers so i was pretty much set on the DDJ-SX. the whole sorta point on this product is to have basically 2 cdjs and a 3 channel mixer all in one which is why it can output each deck to a dvs unit for example. this means the usb wiring is just for one deck and because its a budget style it doesnt have a link function like the pioneers

Why does this have bugs operating Traktor, right deck works in reverse and and it pitches +50% when nudging the jog wheel. Also if you want to switch one of the decks away from Traktor to say USB while the other one is playing a Traktor file it kills Traktor all together so you have no sound during the set. BTW Gemini suppoert sucks, they are aware of the bugs but have no interest in fixing them

Yes, I know, it's budget shait, but hey, it costs 70-80 euro and it's got a full kevlar woofer of decent quality. I'm saving up for KRK's or RCF, but as long as I still live in an appartment building with my wife, I'm not going to change ..
