G'day Mark, not for me over any sort of distance, though I just had a thought. When car camping, I'm well organised and modular, with shelter, kitchen, tools and so on, however ........ I never have a "dedicated" spot for personal items, keys, wallet, sunglasses, toiletries and such + electronics, torches, power banks, camera, cables, this one or something similar would be ideal. Only took a few decades to work that out ; ) ....... thanks for the prod mate !!!!!. Cheers Duke.

I agree about loading it up and carrying over a distance. Can really weigh down on the shoulder. Coincidently, I did use it as a travel bag. The organization came in handy. Thanks for commenting Duke

I've had this bag, at least a couple of years, and I don't carry it much. The reason for that is that the abrasive ballistic nylon has seriously damaged a lot of my clothing. So I only carry it when I'm wearing clothing that doesn't wear easily. I have water bottles that will fit in the external pockets. The strap webbing slips, and I've actually had the pack fall off my shoulder several times. The Helikon-Tex Bushcraft satchel is far more basic, and arguably overpriced considering the materials, but I find it much more useful.

Hi Jack. Great feedback. I have not had the abrasion issue you mention, yet. I have secured the non-adjusting end of the strap to ensure it does not come undone. The HT Satchel is a great bit of kit. Larger and able to carry more, which can be both good and bad. Thanks for commenting

@@MarkYoungBushcraft Hi Mark, I hope you're keeping well. I find it's fine on nylon, waxed cotton, Ventile, etc, but it wears wool, and fleece, and cotton flannel. I've even noticed wear on some of my trousers, which makes me think twice about carrying it. It's a shame because I like the pack otherwise.

The bottom straps would be a good place to carry a Pancho and wobbie liner without taking up space in the bag, to have compact foul weather gear ready for use...

I think this might be the company that was the original manufacturer of Maxpedition gear that everyone loved and raved about when they first hit the market. Over time Maxpedition decided to go with a different manufacturer to reduce costs and squeeze a few extra pennies of profit from their brand name recognition, and recent customer reviews reflect the notable decrease in quality. It's a bit of an open secret among folks in the tactical community that the 'old' Maxped gear is still available from Taiwan, just with a different name. Edit: Just as I post my comment I get to the part of the video where Mark talks about it. Maybe I should finish the video before commenting next time 😂

Hi Alex. I don't think it was originally meant for outdoor or woods use but it does serve well. Thanks for commenting

Sling bag looks a good idea if not over stuffed. My 2 qt. canteen is purty much a sling bag and would be a good counter weight, each strap across chest/head if I don't choke myself with two opposing. Too much stuff I may as well use the backpack. ~ Two liters of water in that bag might feel awkward with all other stuff? ~ Off topic: What's with that big elongated rock in the background in three pieces? tis a strange shape to it.
@MarkYoungBushcraftАй бұрын
I agree. The trick is to not overpack a shoulder bag. The rocks are just some of the many "erratic's" left by glaciers at the end of the last ice age. Our area being on the coast is especially loaded with them. Thanks for commenting

Interesting bag! Will Nalgene bottles fit in the 2 end pockets? How does it compare to the Helekon-Tex bushcraft satchel ?
@MarkYoungBushcraftАй бұрын
A Nalgene will not fit in the end pockets. I have a video on the Helikon-Tex Bushcraft Satchel and Haversack to help you compare. Thanks for commenting
