This was exciting. I grew up eating my grandma's rhubarb upside down cake. Adding strawberries is a great addition. Making it a dump cake makes it even easier than the upside down version. Thanks for this great idea.

Dump cake is a camping favorite down here, and in the South. Aside from letting it burn, there's almost no way to make it mess up!

So I have learned. I have made similar desserts but nothing as easy as this. Thanks for commenting

Great idea, thanks for sharing! Must have immediately a look on that dutch oven thing ... ;-) And just btw, about cleaning - I use always steel wool and, if required, tooth powder if my titanium gear becomes really dirty, burned in etc. Sounds maybe strange but I never got any scratches on any of my titanium pots (which are from different brands, btw.) from this method.

Oh Mark, you forgot your mic? 😞……😀 Looks tasty. I made a bunch of those cakes in a cup that you did. I’ll try this too. I like those simple, easy recipes. Makes it so easy to make something tasty and healthy, and not buy junk from the store

It's an age related thing. You wouldn't understand😆 Simple is good as there are so many other factors to watch out for. Thanks for commentng Jim

I've never heard of a 'dump cake' before, but I like the concept of it. Seems like a great camp treat. 👍Thanks for sharing, take care my friend and Cheers!

It looks like a great recipe Mark. I am definitely a fan of low carb. I haven’t had the opportunity to work with a TT Dutch Oven before so that was interesting. It’s so hard to get things perfect when cooking outdoors. There are just so many variables from one outing to another. I am actually doing some Camp Oven cooking myself this evening. I can’t wait! Thanks for sharing your recipe sir. Take care!

Hi Mat. Not up to your culinary skills for sure but it did taste good. Titanium has pros and cons for baking with. Super tough and light weight but not great at holding heat. Does need a heat sink of some type, like stones, to get the most out of it. Thanks for commenting brother

I will be trying your dump cake in the future. I make a strawberry/rhubarb upside-down cake for every event at our Sportsmans club. I cut the recipe in half when making it in my cast iron camp dutch oven. (the excepted ratio is two times as much charcoal on top as under.)
@MarkYoungBushcraft26 күн бұрын
Right on. Yes, more charcoal on top means better heat transfer downward. Thanks for commenting

Maybe you can use clean sand or small rock for the bottom and with tinfoil you can use it like normal dutch oven and bake biscuits and other stuffs. Anyway you should ask Keith to make a more streamlined product!
@MarkYoungBushcraft25 күн бұрын
Using sand or small stones as thermal mass will work. Just have to make sure it is clean as you say with no organic matter. I may use it yet for biscuits and breads. Thanks for commenting

Vey cool technique. Thanks for sharing! I wonder if lava rock would work as well as the pizza stone. Have great day.
@MarkYoungBushcraft17 күн бұрын
Fore sure. Lava rock would work great and you can add or subtract the amount you need. Thanks for commenting

Using that pizza stone and flipping the lid upside down was a good idea. Figuring out how many coals to put on top can be a little tricky……..now I’m hungry. 😬✌️🇨🇦🇺🇸✌️

It wasn't a bad looking dump cake. A bigger tray would have been better, to avoid the spill over. Cheers, Mark! 👍👍✌️🇨🇦

Yes, as long as it still fit inside the Dutch over. I guess I could also reduce the amounts. Thanks for commenting

G'day Mark, thats a new technique on me, I thought it was gonna be a dump out at the end job, like an upside down cake or pudding ; ) Grandad used to grow a shipload of rhubarb for Nan's apple and rhubarb pies, though to be honest, cant remember which is the dodgy bit ........... leaves or stems ? ..... perhaps neither with blanching ? Anyway, ...... you had me at berries ....... big fan !!!!!!! Cheers Duke.
@MarkYoungBushcraft26 күн бұрын
The stems are good, the leaves are bad. High oxalic acid content. Thanks for commenting Duke
