For those going to Ivie for the first time. Watch out for trees just below the surface between marker 210 and 203. They are right on the edge of the river channel in 50’ of water. Watched a guy this weekend blow through there at like 45-50mph till he caught it with his motor.

Such a unique lake, fished it this December. I recommend booking Dalton smith and stay at elm creek! Great folks there.

In 2011 - 2012 the Lake was so low that the Mesquite and Huisache bushes grew like crazy. What first timers find is that great looking targets on the map are completely covered by trees and bushes. Fishing shore line here is flipping small targets. Milliken is catching his fish off shore on top of structure.

Have fun! I'm heading there today myself. It sounds like you are pretty new to the lake. Be careful running it. And stay in the channel once you go North from Elm Creek.

Thanks Barry! The trip didn't go as expected, the weather got us pretty good with a huge cold front and I came down with COVID. Good luck out there, there are giants there for sure!!!

LOL, I was only there one day in Jan. and don't remember seeing much either. Maybe they killed it all off and the mapping is just old. That was my first experience on a lake like that and I have to admit it took me out of my comfort zone for sure. Supposedly all those big ones are coming on Live Scope and what they are doing is setting up on the outside edge of all that flooded brush, we tried fishing over and around the brush and didn't do that great. The best place I found out there was actually the main boat ramp, tons of activity there.

not the biggest in Texas history

Not even in the top six. And smallmouth? Not in the top twenty. He needs to get his facts straight. Now it has the record for meanmouth.

It hurt on this lake for sure. I heard Milliken say he regrets ever telling people where he was at. It has also done a lot of good for fishing as well. There is so much to learn it is unbelievable. The industry is also growing and there are a lot of opportunities out there for those who want to chase them.
@chriscarroll36353 ай бұрын
You are clueless dude. First off the top six largest largemouth bass caught in Texas came from lake fork. And smallmouth none in the top twenty. Now meanmouth it has the record with a 7.76 or so and a 11 pounder caught as well. Get your facts straight. Lol

Sorry I’m not a bass history expert. Yes, Fork has the top six but look at the dates of the catches. According to the data Ivie has been producing better over the past 20 to years. All of the top six were from the late 80’s and 90’s on Fork.
