A couple cool buffs that were left unmentioned - Infernape gets Knock Off, Drain Pumch, and Aura Sphere - My son Dragalge gets both Scald and Flip Turn back - Brambleghast, Ceruledge, Banette, and Houndstone now learn Poltergeist (not Basculegion though) - Kantonian Ninetales gets Healing Wish - Forretress finally gets a good Bug STAB in Lunge - Iron Valiant and Gardevoir both learn Vacuum Wave - Lurantis is finally able to learn Superpower thanks to the inclusion of Torterra - Revavroom gets High Horsepower, which I mean it's an engine so why wouldn't it - Cacturne finally gets another usable Dark STAB in Knock Off - Shiftry got Early Bird replaced with Wind Rider, and it learns both Toxic Spikes and Will-O-Wisp - Actually a lot of things get Knock Off for the first time: Poliwrath, Quaquaval, Pawmot, Lokix, Toxicroak, Leavanny, Trevenant, etc. - Darkrai can at least use Will-O-Wisp now (Dark Void is still garbage)

The fall of Tyranitar is especially tragic, since it isn’t even Tyranitar’s fault. Pursuit was sniped from the game, and Excadril isn’t in the game, Dracozolt isn’t in the game, and Last Respects was banned, so Houndstone doesn’t have a reason to exist. It wasn’t just powercrept, but was actively nerfed by taking away its moves, and the regional dex.

Houndstone got poltergeist, ttar got knock off, good sand immune mons like clefable jirachi gliscor kommo o and mandibuzz are back, and ogerpon has a rock form too, also sand is a good counter to other weather especially snow switching in to deny aurora veil, easily tank a moonblast and ohko back with stone miss, sand finally has some identity again, maybe not ou defining but could be a cool niche choice to catch the opponent off guard

Yes, Empoleon buff was enormous. I still liked defiant, because it could punish more with knock off and flip turn. Still, roost is an enormous buff. It's the stuff I have been dreaming of since gen 4. When Empoleon got that move in Arceus, I wasn't expecting it to move here, yet here we are. I think it's gonna be OU or UUBL. Water/Steel is an incredible combo, and has an amazing stat spread. With Gliscor, I'm not convinced. Sure, Toxic Heal is strong as ever, and double spikes are amazing. Oh, and Crabhammer is a fun option. However, Gliscor lost access not only to defog but also to roost. So being completely reliant on Toxic Heal is dangerous. It should still be OU mon, just not as incredible as people may think. Alomomola will be good. Wish with that huge health would be more valued, especially in a game with removed aromatherapy/heal bell. I can see people moving Baxcalibur to ubers. Not only it can break through teams, but now it will be able to setup at the same time. Just wow. It's interesting that Mandibuzz kept its most valuable options, including toxic. With how its competition was nerfed, Mandibuzz could be the new stall queen. Still, I can see it being in UU. Other interesting things to note: Manaphy returns! It gets scald, flip turn, knock off and most importantly- tail glow. Good thing z-moves are not around anymore. Shiftry replaced early bird with wind rider. It's gonna be interesting how it'll perform in VGC. Will it replace Brambleghast, I wonder? Scizor gets bug bite and knock off back. Which is neat. Vaporeon gets scald and flip turn. Ugh. It's gonna be a menance if it's gonna play calm mind set. Torterra got a lot of new moves, including shell smash. It could be a great late-game sweeper. Infernape also got fun moves, like drain punch or knock off. Lokix gets knock off. This Pokemon's moveset is basically perfect now. Roaring Moon gets knock off. As if it needed that buff. Interesting changes overall. I'm just glad Toxapex didn't get back knock off or scald. Still, my Sandslash boi needs more love. Sharpness was right there, but it looks like it's not gonna happen. :/

Weavile also got Knock Off back and instead of Triple Axel, it has Icicle Spear now. It may go crazy with loaded dice but just like SD Baxcalibur, it loses its protection for rocks. We might see Weavile taking back the spot he lost against Chien Pao.

Rather than changing Meganium's ability, they should buff Leaf Guard for all Pokemon. In addition to status immunity, take 2/3 damage from Fire attacks (mathematically canceling the boost Fire attacks get in sunlight.) Meganium should also get a move like Aurora Veil, but for sunlight, and Pollen Puff.

Yeah but it's torterra a single ice move and it's deleted and with lowered defenses even fire and flying especially since you likely are not invested in defense much if at all, plus it's base speed is still so low even after a shell smash most scarfers still outspeed it, though with tera like most sweepers it can make countering it harder and unpredictable

Another thing that imo seemed big was Shiftry getting the ability Wind Rider(former signature ability of Bramblin and Brambleghast) which makes it immune to wind moves, increasing its attack when hit by one. This also works when it uses tailwind giving it increased attack and speed. I've messed around with it but I have yet to find an amazing build for it.

Kommo-o has it pretty nice this gen. Loaded Dice lets it use Scale Shot, and it also gets Clangerous Soul and Dragon Dance. It can also tera into types like Ghost or Normal for defense or to get STAB on Boomburst. And it has three nice abilities.

In Japanese "Roost" is "Wing Rest", so the main thing to use it is having Wings, not being flying type (sorry Gyara). I've been saying since Day 1 of DPP that no Roost on Empoleon was BS!!! Glad my boy finally got what he deserved-- definitely a Flare Blitz Flareon moment. Now need the Mega form with Levitate...

If you wanna play set up I guess this is an offensive upgrade for empoleon, but I see it as entirely defensive. EV/IV spread around HP Def and Spdef depending on what you need, Roost + Roar (which you didnt mention but is absolutely game changing) then 1 phys 1 spec attacking options. The ideal tank.

Gliscor with the Toxic Heal ability and with an item other than Toxic Orb is totally possible, since in this generation, the desire to Toxify EVERYTHING is in vogue. And with the Tera Grass or Fire, for example, it would be an excellent trap, an excellent bait and a mortal danger for many Pokemon who think they can just take on Gliscor carelessly, also, I'm happy for Goodra and Tyranitar, they got a boost and for other Pokemon too.

Protect is still semi reliable healing and can afford you free turns toxic chip easier, also there's good wish passers again like alomomola and clefable to heal it back up, but yeah it's an impactful loss though even if it had it you would have less pp than older gens

Empoleon is my favorite starter Pokémon ever and perhaps even one of my top 10 all time favorite Pokémon. I even have a shiny!!! It only took 16 years after the original game Diamond and Pearl but I finally have one❤❤ ❤Legends Arceus😅 It’s amazing how far shiny hunting has come beyond the Masuda method for those of us like myself as a kid, or a teenager who could not get the shiny charm.( Until this Generation thanks to some incredible people for helping) Thank god it’s ability was changed!! Penguin Power !!!

I know Guy who realy wanted to see Empoleon succeed. Wolfey? Whatever he saw Potencial in the Typ Combo and was waiting on it. And yeah its cool, it has potencial. Was Gliscor OU in 6, and 7? I didnt played that Metas for to long, so maybe it reestablished itselfe later after Meta Shifts.

Pre DLC 1 ttar was struggling in uu. It would've been B tier mon if VR was updated. It could now be a bit better. Though not sure how in a meta dominated by quaquaval as well as mons like treads tink donphan being so good dont help it. Rilla being there don't help. Meta is just unkind to it. The one top tier mon it has good matchup against os dirge. But it still can wisp. Overall h-arc is just better a lot of time. If meta shifts around ie , quaq gets potentially banned it will be great again. Atleast it's a b+/a- mon for now is an achievement. It's sad how much this mon fell off.

Alomomola's place in gen 9 OU isnt primarily going to be a stallpiece, it is a very bulky mon and a great wish passer but its place was always to be an in-between swap into offensive threats and flip turn reinforces this idea for it.

Probably not changed/added typings those are off the as well as stat spread overhauls (they just started doing Stat swaps for the first time, on one Mon by 5 points) Maybe Triage Meganium (with Calm Mind, Earth Power, Dazzling Gleam, Draining Kiss), Iron Fist Electivire (with Close Combat, Drain Punch, Bulk Up, and Knock Off) and Mega Launcher Magmortar (with Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse)
