In regards to earning a CIB, the requirements state, “These soldiers must have been personally present and engaged in active ground combat, to close with and destroy the enemy with direct fires.” So he was a full bird Colonel that was “engaged in active ground combat, to close with and destroy the enemy with direct fires”? @Robert Teller First of all, very few things are directly a threat to our security. You are more likely to be struck my lightning than be killed in a terrorist attack. The only real threats are other countries with nuclear weapons, and mutually assured destruction guarantees they won't strike us with nukes. So your security is pretty much assured. And no one is going to invade the US because of how powerful our military is. So I don't understand your point. Are you saying a soldier has to kill someone to be respected? Second of all, have you served in the military? Do you know how much of a sacrifice it is? You have to be away from your family for months on end, and as a general, Milley is responsible for the lives of hundreds of people who may be risking their lives. He himself probably never killed anyone on a battlefield since you seem to care about that, but it's still respectable to earn a General rank in any branch of service. Third of all, no one is worshipping generals. lol I have never seen anyone pray to a soldier. I just respect Milley because he is putting the US constitution as a priority and because he has stood up for LGBT and minorities in the military. The military doesn't have the best history with LGBT or minorities, and Milley is taking things in the right direction.

@Robert Teller First of all, Milley is in Army, not the Navy, but I can understand your point. But the thing is, ship handling is becoming a thing of the past. Now most of the ship handling tasks in the military are being automated and controlled by AI. So I don't really understand your complaint. There are hiccups here and there, but I don't think there is enough data to say the US Navy is getting worse or less capable. Second of all, it's not like every soldier has zero extra time, and it's not like this "sensitivity training" like you put it is unnecessary. I have known 6 women personally who have served in the US military, and all 6 of them have been raped. Sexual assault in the military is a real problem. And racism and discrimination is still a problem to. I want the US military to be better in every aspect, and you can't do that when the soldiers have to suffer discrimination and sexual assault.
