The Gen 5 games are my favourite by far. There’s so much dark stuff in this game and so much still unsolved, plus the whole story and lore of unova is great. This was a great video, you did a very good job explaining the story!

Great video! Only thing that kept bothering me was the “Genesis” thing 😂 but I’ve seen in the comments that you didn’t know his name until after the vid. I love that Gen 5 (my favourite generation of Pokémon) can spawn videos like this years later cuz it goes to show how much love and effort was put into them. I’ve loved them since day 1 and I totally think the theme of loss in these games is a subplot after watching this! Side note: at the beginning & end you mentioned Nintendo posting about the Pokémon stuff but I’m gonna put this as a reminder cuz I often see people get confused, The Pokémon company, while it’s owned 33% in part by Nintendo, they’re a different company that have their own developers, so asking for “Nintendo to release Gen 5 remakes” isn’t exactly correct cuz Nintendo doesn’t make Pokémon games. Sorry for the rant but I gotta spread the info whenever I see people getting confused

I think that loss is a very well established topic in these games. Other two types of loss in the games are the loss of hope and happiness, as some NPCs show while talking to you and the loss of Nature, as many natural and unexplored areas in the base game do host human structures in the sequels.

Why Gen 5 is loved. The starters aren’t all Humanoids like gens 3 & 6-9 starters we got a SNAKE 🐍 with Arms, a Seal lion 🦭 on ALL fours covered in armor and razor shell blades, and a sick MONSTROUS BATTLE BOAR with a FLAMING NECK 🐗 The Pokémon roster is GOOD imo idgaf majority of the Unova mons ARE made to look like Bosses and that’s why I love em. A Patrat looks the most menacing regional rodent in the series yet. The music specifically BW2 are the BEST in the series. Aspertia City? Route 19? Route 1? Different Gym themes? BW1&2 rival battles? Surf theme? The STORY? BW1 is fckn packed with the most story in the main series, and a mature one at that. The CHARACTERS? Alder, The rivals, THE GYM LEADERS, N?? I also just love how the BW1 story treats us as the reawakening heros reborn, thus there’s a entire “holder of the light/dark stone proceed with precision” type of quotes throughout the game. Gen 5 best gen for a reason 🙄🥱

Tbh I think XY, Gen 7 (especially USUM, whose backstory on Necrozma is significantly more tragic than even Kyurem's), and SV are darker than Gen 5.

If we had a Legends Unova game I would expect for Hilbert/Hilda to be a Faller there like how Ingo is in Hisui. The reason why they never returned it because they travelled in time, maybe a Hidden Grotto had Tera energy.

I love these games ngl, weirdly enough i didnt like bw1 at first cuz you could only fight the champion post game 😂😂😂 but now i treasure these 2 games for their great stories (for pokemon standards at least) and most of all, the gameplay cuz omg they heavily fixed the slow and lethargic gameplay of gen 4 and made it a lot faster. Also i really like the animated sprites theyre great (most of them). But yeah, overall, great games, highly recommend people try them out (especially bw2)

I know y’all shat on the ice cream and garbage pokemon. You won’t fool me with your “newfound respect”. I always knew these games were goated, and I know it was the worst selling gen because of you. I will always hold this grudge because the backlash on this game is the reason we got 3 shit gens with 0 interesting characters after it. Scarlet and violet is getting the black and white treatment because it’s buggy, which is a valid complaint, but the story is good. The characters aren’t just soulless battle opponents that you forget their story seconds after you put the game down, which is a valid complaint, but even with the bugs the game is leagues better than the previous 3 generations and with the legends arceus game we were allowed to have grittier characters and themes. It’s important to see the good in these games or else Pokémon will go back to the “only make games for children 12 and under” motto they stuck with for gens 6-8.
