Wish I had such a good relationship with my dad. Our age ranges are fairly similar to you two, but he pretty much refuses to take interest in what I like from hobbies to career to social life, and hardly ever shares his own interests. Not only is the willingness there but you two got this project about said interests going on together as well, it's dope to see!

Hi, discovered you guys' channel cuz of the recent OPLA explosion and videos related to it and I had fun watching dad here and his views, takes and reactions to all these things. So, dad asked a question about how the Japanese write their their story an the comparison to the west. It just so happens since you guys are talking about Death Note and this question comes up, I think there is one anime/manga that can help with answer at least 1 part of the question. The series is called Bakuman, its a story of 2 middle schoolers who wants to make it big as mangakas, think comic book artists and authors but for Japanese mangas. The story is about their journey, the difficulties they face and about the industry as a whole. Heres the kicker, the author and artist for this series are also the very same 2 ppl who created Death Note and they even made an abridged version of wat happened to them when they were creating Death Note and made into a part of the the story in Bakuman. The genius of this series was the creators basically writing about themselves and yet its an amazing story that has real world tie ins of sorts and an inside look of the very industry the creators themselves are part of. Its a completed seires and its one of my all time favorites and I would love to recommend this series to anyone who watched/read Death Note and had so many questions about either the industry or the comparisons of the West and East when it comes to writing in comics and manga. The reason for that is, when first time viewers of anime ask wat anime they should start with, A LOT of ppl always say Death Note and it becomes their gateway show and they experience a media they nvr even seen or heard of before and yet its popularity has taken the world by storm for over a decade. After they finish the show, they start the same contemplation of west vs east and their curiousty for the eastern concept catches the better of them and here we have a series which does just that. There's also another recommendation for a look into the anime side of things called Shirobako, an anime that does the same thing but an inside look into the anime industry and wat goes into creating an anime show.

I hate to disappoint (and I really appreciate your commenting) but I cannot get into D&D. I played once in 1981 and never tried again. The best thing that I can say about D&D is that my children have made good friends and had fun while playing a clean game that keeps them from committing mischief on the street. And I'd rather shuck corn. - Dad

I see how people see Near as L junior, but i think that is most people saw L as more 2 dimensional. I always see Near and Mellow as L's Left Brain and Right Brain, his OCD logical side, and his emotionally manipulative food loving sids.

I would really love to hear your dad and you review flcl it was one of the few things in media that has changed my life and I love hearing people talk about it even if they don't like it, plus it's only 6 episodes so it's only the length of a long movie

What is FLCL?
@lilgohan3997
@lilgohan3997 Жыл бұрын
@@PorkChopsRiceandPeaches flcl also called fooly cooly is a 6 episode ova anime created by the studio ginax after the wild popularity of their previous anime, neon Genesis evangelion. It was made by the studio with really just the intention of testing different animation styles so the director kinda got to do whatever he wanted but he and the team also just wanted to make a show we're it wasn't all edgy and serious all the time but instead wacky and weird and confusing because that was more accurate to the real world to him. But ya sorry for the weird long explanation, flcl is basically just a coming of age story that hit me really hard at a time when I needed it most, it probably won't hit as hard for you guys because your already grown men but I think there is other things to learn and enjoy from the show and I would love to hear what u and your dad think. Plus it got the best dub of all time and the best soundtrack of all time

story telling in anime is more Unique. I think one reason is that most anime is based on manga. And Japan gives new authors opportunity's to get noticed by anime studios. And those manga often get a literal adoptation as an anime. While movies and series here in the west are often created by screenwriters and sometimes from books. but the problem with books is that it is difficult to give it a literal adoptation

Another huge difference in Eastern vs western shows is that western shows tend to be episodic, whereas eastern tend to be serial.

Glad to hear your Dad has a good time!^^ Also recommend reading "Death Note: Tokubetsu Yomikiri", a sequel/spin-off with our beloved Death god in it. It's like 88 pages long -- a short read when it comes to manga --, set in 2019, long after the canon series' time.

Im curious to see how dad will react to a shojo (girl targeted) animes since we are going down the typical shounen starters right now. Or if your are into any sports, sport animes are also an interesting take XD.
