I totally agree that One Piece is a series you can revisit over and over. I've researched the first half several times and the whole thing at least twice. It's so rich that there is always something new to find. Welcome to the fandom and I hope you can enjoy it for years to come! And have fun watching your husband explore it too. Thanks Mama Peaches for the well thought out response! If i could amend my question i would add that the crew seems to prioritize luffy's dreams by risking their lives for his success. But i totally agree! They dont necessary put their goals on the backburner while still showing their loyalty to their captain.

Great to hear both parent's takes on the show, also really neat that both of the. are using either the anime or manga to experience the story. When you mentioned how luffy was able to liberate his crewmates from their lowest points, With franky I think his lowest point was his inability to create things after what happened with Tom, so spending years dismantling ships and not building them would of been soul crushing for him. Also with Jimbei luffy did free him from impel down, so I don't think you can be liberated for a lower place than hell. Thanks for the videos, I really appreciate the intergenerational perspective you're giving the show ❤

I've started watching One Piece when I was still not on elementary and I remembered my dad always looking forward to it every week.. He just loves Luffy. But then he just got too busy and stops watching. But now after having 2 children during pandemic I started watching it and the whole world of one piece just captivated me.. I finished the whole 1095 episodes in just 6 weeks. Hoping to see that update on the trivia contest with them.

Boa is like a school girl for sure...there's a discussion vid between Jay and Merphy on Boa..how a certain phase in Boa's life was taken away due to being enslaved, so when it all broke down upon meeting a genuine man like Luffy, she just could not process it.. The feelings of a Crush, how to go through that phase, the growing phase, was snatched away from her.. It's a good watch, the vid..I can't elaborate better than them.

Okay, footnote on Sanji: I was with the Mama on the idea that Sanji is kind of an asshole. But that's just factually incorrect. He is always out there to help crewmates and has very caring presence. He does it really subtly and it's really easy to lost these details amidst all the chaos, but there were many a moment when he was the first one to voice his refusal to abandon friends or just go out for the rescue. And it's really not only about women, even though he is rude to guys, he helps them too and is arguably THE MOST compassionate Strawhat. And I don't even like him that much personally but you gotta admit the facts ☝️

I can't stand most of the English cast. Luffy.. I can tell it's a grown adult trying to sound young. 😅 sorry not trying to be negative. I love alot of dub animes and there's tons of amazing dub voice actors. However, for example the emotional scenes in English don't hit for me cause it comes off as kinda campy, that could just be my perspective though. I'm in no way gatekeeping. Everyone enjoys it in their own way. 😅
