you have just stumbled upon one of the best bands regardless of the musical genre. I heard Jinjer for the first time 8 years ago and have been in love with this band ever since. I have been a musician myself for a long time and don't had much to do with metal music, but since I got to know this band, which in my opinion is much more than a metal band, I have been musically enchanted. Jinjer started out as a metalcore band with 2 guitarisats but now they just have 1. Now they are considered a Progressive Groove metal band for the last few albums. Thats why you get the Pantera feel.

Jinjer is one of the best metal bands to come out in the last decade. Tatiana is a vocal goddess and the band is amazing. To appreciate how good this band is, I recommend reacting to their live material. I suggest "Perennial" live at Wacken 2019 for a follow up. Good reaction. (Subbed)

Well, if you like harsh vocals you'll enjoy Jinjer because in most cases their singer Tatiana uses more growls. Much longer, much deeper, sometimes with high pithced screams. She's one of the best female growlers nowadays. This was just a tiny showcase, one of their less heavy songs. And speaking about an odd time signatures. Jinjer (especially last few albums) is all about an odd time signatures, unexpected transitions and unorthodox song structures. If you are not familiar with the song - you'd never predict the next move. Usually you can expect some kind of rollercoaster but it's always different.

2:10 - In this case it's far from being a cliché, the whole space background has everything to do with the song's theme. Everything they present in their videos is not for showing off or because it "looks cool", it always relates to the songs. The drummer in this song was Dmitry Kim, their 4th drummer. If you liked the drum work, just wait until you start reacting to the songs from the 5th drummer era. His name is Vlad and he's a classically trained pianist who played guitar in his former band. Then one day his band needed a drummer, so he taught himself how to play the drums and became his band's drummer until he joined Jinjer in 2016. Now he's the best non-Metal drummer in a Metal band, at least to me. 🙂

Ok. Wait. Why is nobody mentioning the elephant in the room? Pisces - Live Session Pisces is the Jinjer video most reactors encounter first. It's the usual intro to this amazing band. It showcases the arresting duality of Tatiana's voice (although it was intended to introduce then-new drummer Vlad). This is an excellent reaction. It's a bit of an unusual place to start. No bad thing--there's no bad Jinjer songs, and Astronomy is one of my favorites. It doesn't have quite the shock and awe of Pisces though. Just sayin. I'm subscribing to see where your Jinjer journey takes you. I wasn't that hip to harsh vocals before I discovered Jinjer. They're now my favorite band. The most compelling band for me since Rush retired. They're even better live than in the studio. They're touring right now, and getting ready to come to the States next month. He recruits some of the most amazing female vocalists (and male) in the Euro scene... the musicianship is absolutely top notch, as are the recordings. A few suggestions: - The Day the World Breaks Down - The Source (2017) (this is not live, but you get a ton of background info, and some wonder male voices) - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe version.. 2017) ...must be the Live - an intro the Marcela Bovio, Lissette Van Den Berg (Scarlet Voices), Irene Jansen and her pesky little sister Floor, who must have arrived late to the venue... she still has the pelt of the bear that got in her way, draped across her back. - Intergalactic Space Crusaders - Maggy Luyten and Daemon Wilson get into a well-scripted tiff... so tough to be an interplanetary leader, er, rebel.
