People always compare his latest work to his old days, which he hates. Slim Shady was his worst phase of life and he only made him to vent out his anger without looking bad but people liked this. As a Gen Z (17yo) who enjoys a variety of music genres, Eminem wasn't actually meaning the goofy lines he said. His latest album, The Death of Slim Shady, is a concept album where Slim Shady (Eminem's "savage" alter ego from 2002) and Eminem (present day) battles each other. There are many interpretations and theories about this album (my favourite being Eminem battling his troubled life because of drugs), but one thing for sure is that Slim Shady is trying to get them cancelled in a rather abrupt yet flat way (such as the insanely goofy line "Jenzimibra?") It sort of works as a concept and it is meant to be a concept, nothing more or less. The execution, as always, can be cut and taken out of context and misunderstood quite easily. For instance, the song where he said "Jenzimibra" is only 40 secs but listening to it whole makes everything much clearer. Despite all of these wackiness, no one actually cares in the end of the day.

Still, I liked some of the songs, so it all worked out. I think what everyone’s forgetting though is that the whole “gen z cancelling” angle is not from Eminem’s actual opinion or anything, it’s just the story for what’s happening in the album. I think people oughta actually give it a listen and learn that Eminem isn’t being weird here, that’s just what’s happening in the story he’s set up in the album. What's the point of creating this edgy "alter ego" with zero humanity and regards to common sense if not to express your most derange and gross ideas/views? I think it's exactly what's Eminem doing. Im not counting all the serous fucked up crimes he mentioned in his songs Slim would commit, Marshall is obviously too pussy to do any of that even if he wanted. He's just hiding behind this mask of character and "album concept" to spread his sick thoughts that not a single normal person would deem as acceptable. Plus he thinks it makes him appear intimidating which is the most hilarious part I really pity him and what he had to go through in his youth, but it seems these obstacles only made him a worse person it seems. His age also hasn't been very kind to the old man, he's clearly going through it.

As a Gen Z myself, this bickering is some of the most pointless but funny stuff I've ever heard. Also the line referenced here kind of needs some context... Eminem in the album was mocking slim shady ( The old edgy cool kid rapper ), and the Gen Z me bruh line is part of the back and forth between the 2. It genuinely is some clever lyrical work though. 1:18 Also, call me crazy, but a song about violently stabbing your wife while screaming "BLEEED", or locking your pregnant partner into a car trunk and driving off a cliff.... feels pretty edgy, even for 2024

What a lot of people miss because they didn't even listen to the Eminem's new album is it's a concept album. Even though he criticises the Gen Z for the cancel culture on his songs, him getting cancelled, police and protestors lining up on his house etc. are all part of that story which ends with Eminem calling out Slim Shady for being mentally 13 and immature and so on. So he just ends that character, I don't think he thinks everyone is trying to cancel him or sth. These clips are cringe tho

@@TamsCake I feel like the reception and misconception from both sides kinda helps prove the albums points. Gen z sees someone, who they think is trying hard to get attention by being offensive, and they think it's cringe, which is the point of the album. So.....that eminem lyric was just..out of fucking context. EM DID cook, once you read the rest of the goddamn lyrics. The whole album is about Eminem burying his past immature persona of Slim Shady. Slim Shady, the rapper to good to be cancelled, who could say Fuck, Shit, Piss, Midget, F*ggot, pretty much every derogatory slur under the sun minus the n-word itself. The album is Eminem literally killing that former version of himself to realize his grown persona as Marshall Mathers in full. Marshall Mathers is is still a rapper, but he's also a father, a grandfather, an inspiration to quitting alcoholics, and most importantly, a sober person. I get it, lessons in meme culture are short with tiny little dives of information instead of any research, but still, taking literally one Eminem verse as your talking point is just as cringe as the X'ers who did it.
