A lot of millennials, including myself grew up, loving Gen X. The films and especially the music. We looked back on the 80s just as people who were Gen X looked back on the 60s.

I appreciate your sentiment. I was born in ‘69, so solid ‘7@s childhood (the kids’ stuff not the adult stuff much), and my Jr. High/Sr. High and first years of college were solid mid 80s. So much awesome music. That said…I guess I might be a bit of an anomaly if your assessment is correct, because I have very little affinity for the 60s. There is a little bit of overlap, I enjoyed the Brady Bunch and I know that it started in the 60s. But I associate it generally with early 70s. 🤷🏻‍♀️ There are a number of things related to the 60s that actually can get on my nerves. 😆 But when it comes to the simpler rural and suburban family life, (Eg. life depicted in The Sandlot) I’m all about it.

The whole you were born in the 1900’s thing cracked me up. Being born in 1971 I was always aware the new millennium was coming and was determined to have all my kids before 2000 because I thought my parents were soooo old and being born in a different millennium would have just made it worse. I don’t know what magical thing I thought would happen once we were in the 2000’s. Hahahaha. I missed my goal by 11 months but it turns out it didn’t matter. I’m Gen X so i think I’m still 25 as long as you don’t say my real age (and my body doesn’t ache 😂

No one notices Gen X bc we were too busy creating all the amazing and groundbreaking technology that Gen Z is addicted to and have no clue how to live without. 😎 We have only been producing the greatest movies of all time, revolutionizing society, training AI, and we will soon be ruling the political arena as well bc the boomers are soon exiting the scene, and sadly are trying to destroy our country on the way out. And trust me, once latch key kids are running everything, things are going to change, big time. If you think your generation is great, it’s bc Gen X raised you, or your parents, who then raised you. We have changed the world exponentially and if y’all don’t work hard and fight for what’s right, you will lose everything. They have already gotten you to hand over all your privacy without question. Now the government doesn’t even need surveillance bc you’re surveillancing yourselves for them and uploading it to a database that cannot be destroyed. Just wait to see how many more years it takes them to own you. Now they are making you poor, desperate just to have a home to build a family. Hell, they are taking that little bit of money people were saving and now that’s being used just to buy bread. Insurance companies can take 2 weeks out of Gen Z’s paycheck now. You can thank boomers for that. Maybe learn how to vote, or go into politics yourselves or you won’t have a country worth growing old in. Good luck. It’s up to you now.

1970 Gen X here. You said you don't mess with the Boomers cause they're on 1 leg?? Don't sleep on them. They're the reason Gen X has done so well while not giving a 🙄. They can be and are incredibly cruel and insensitive to most anything concerning us. That's why, in a nutshell, we can't be offended or intimidated by anyone or anything, we've seen it ALL by now my friend. As long as we can all laugh together at the end of the day, everything's all good. All of the generational complaining is really a vicious cycle that's been perpetuated throughout the ages. I still smoke, my mother quit after 45 years of it, but my son and his Zr friends vape. Let me just say, these kids who are so grossed out by smoking, would die without their Vapes. I'm Gen X, and pretty much we got beat into being seen not heard. So we just watch the two bigger gens go at each other. Also, people have no real concept of the ages. I had Boomers parents who both got remarried to other Boomers, but my half siblings are Millennials and Gen Z.

I’m an older GenXer and just had a 30th bday party for my younger Millennial daughter themed in Legally Blonde (pink everywhere!). She said it looked like a funeral for her 20s. She wasn’t wrong. Here’s another thing. I was born during the Vietnam War but only 25 years AFTER the end of WWII. Yeah…Think about that!!! WWII ended almost 80 years ago. Gulp!

Typical Gen X childhood: Parents gone when you got up for school and when you got home. Do your chores and (maybe) some homework then out the door and back in when it got dark. Weekends: A couple hours of TV in the am, then out of the house until dark. Play tackle football or Ride w friends , find apples to eat from a neighbor's apple tree, drink from your hoses when you were thirstly, find wood, string and find a tree with nice branchs to build a house up in it or get creative with what you all found. Get on our bikes and ride on the streets to the nearest mall 8 miles away and spend the day at the mall playing arcade games, then ride home... If you got hurt, don't expect drama from the parents, it was your fault for being stupid. You learned what was stupid and how to get creative. Too many of the latest generations: Since very young, always told how they could get hurt. Getting hurt was a big taboo so don't you dare get risky in your behavior. Why learn it when you can always google it later? Why put up with what you don't want to at work, when you can try to become a rich internet sensation?
