The negative of being a salaried exempt employee is no pay for overtime in exchange for a steady constant paycheck. @ultrahotwings973820 күн бұрын
@@CrypticCobraI was always confused by the whole salaried thing going over 40 hours and not getting paid. The few friends I have who made it to nice salaried jobs all have a thing where if they go over 40 hours, those hours get paid an hourly rate that was determined in the contract. The only company I can think of that didn't do that was my old retail job, but the only salaried employee was the GM.. and usually they worked more than 40 for the health of the store, since better store performance meant better bonus checks (so, I guess, they're sorta compensated for that overtime?). The reason they were salaried was so they didn't count against the store's labor hour allocation that the system gives for scheduling. So, they were essentially not counted by the system as labor (which was fine since they were usually in the office doing admin stuff, and only occasionally helped on register if they needed it).

@@coz7891 Exactly. The older generation would come home exhausted and talking Sh*t, but that fear kept them bound. Millennials will stay depending on what we have going on, but you’re definitely going to pay us. Gen Z gives 0 F*cks. The GenX/Boomer response was spot on! Most of my generation can quote labor code verbatim. We have the State Emploment Commission on Speed Dial. We been there, done that. I had an employer write me up for discussing pay rates with fellow employees one time. I just said I needed it in writing. She gleefully handed me the write-up, thinking she had made a power play. Little did she know she typed up a federal offense on corporate letterhead. She wasn't my boss the next week, and all the EEO brochures were freshly updated in the breakroom. I work in Healthcare now, and the same thing happens when companies call demanding medical information on employees who took sick leave. If they get nasty with me, I ask them to fax me their request in writing on corporate letterhead. It's a $50k HIPAA violation. If a GenXer or Boomer demands something in writing, you're screwed. Back away, surrender, and let it go. You've already lost, and they know it. They're not asking for mutual benefit and open communication. They're asking for rope.
