Awww, same- I watched westerns with my dad (who has been gone a couple years now) and am also Gen x. Poor dad had to settle for watching westerns and war stuff with me because my brother wasn’t interested 😏

Great Show. A dark western. I'm a fan of R rated TV,. This show is by Mark Smith, the guy that did The Revenant (and Twisters). Makes me think of the Oregon Trail game and how you died like 1000 times playing that game...for kids....in school!

Started watching it yesterday and have smashed through it. Beautifully shot and some great tension. Having visited Salt Lake a few times, and with Mormons in my family, I found this to be a great yarn spun through actual historical events. Being British I've always been fascinated with this period of US history. While we were starting the industrial revolution, all this madness was going on!

Interestingly, in the 1850s there were actually more Mormons who were born in the UK than in the United States because so many British people converted and moved to Utah. President John Taylor (who led the church after Brigham Young died) was born in England and left when he converted to the church at the age of 24. Part of the reason that so many people joined the church in the UK and left for the US was specifically because the living conditions during the Industrial Revolution were so horrible. It turns out that they ended up in even worse conditions in the middle of nowhere. Charles Dickens wrote about it at the time, which is well worth looking up.

Glad to see you reacting this. It's a pretty hard edged Western. Not quite bone tomahawk level, but you can see that from here.
