@@amnril And the sad irony is... she's not singing on this. Todd in the Shadows has a Trainwreckord on this album, and one of the major conflicts came when they were working with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (the Prince proteges that launched Janet Jackson's early career with "Control" and "Nasty,") and they apparently had a blow up over the fact that Jam and Lewis like to work with their own session musicians and vocalists, which bothered The Human League since they have their own singers. They compromised by giving Joanne Catherall that spoken-work bit toward the end, but poor Susan Sulley seems to be relegated to lip-syncing the vocals of a singer named Lisa Keith.

The Human League is still together, and still performing. It consists of Philip Oakey Lead vocals and keyboards, Joanne Catherall backing and lead vocals, and Susan Ann Sulley backing and lead vocals. While it started off with a different lineup, these three have been part of the group since 1980, and the only members since the late 80s. Philip Oakey is the only original member having been part of the group when it started in 1977. Don't You Want Me, and (Keep Feeling) Fascination, are probably their two other biggest song, and both have interesting, rather surreal, videos. They are well worth checking out.

On this record Lisa Keith sung the back ground vocals, a session singer who worked with Jam and Lewis on a lot records they did. It was a big issue recording this song when the group heard her vocal on the song. Its story behind it but they almost did not get this record if her vocal was not on it. A group member did do the spoken word

Honestly - this is some of the more boredom songs of them ... I don't know why it is so famous. The more spectacular ones are "Don't You Want Me" and (of course) "Being Boiled". The last one is a real Disco-Song ... with a lot of 80s-club feeling in it. It is the same league than "Visage - We Fate To Grey", "Yazoo - Don't Go", "My Mine - Hypnotic Tango", "Soft Cell - Tainted Love" or even "Ultravox - Vienna" ... It was a special time growing up with all this music. BTW: Don't forget to listen to all this extended versions: Don't Go takes more you than 8 minutes into deep Synthi-Sounds. Tainted Love changes from one song into another into 10 minutes. Vienna - well - it is already 5 minutes long.
