I was one of the people / men who wanted the support trans rights because I assumed it has no effect on me or anyone else. It's not something I really thought about. People like Posey Parker and Joyce explaining the impact on women from women's perspectives has really made me question my position on it. It's much more complex than I originally thought. These interviews are very much appreciated.

For some, equality can only be reached when a select group has all the rights. Because that is a ludicrous goal they cloak it in fairness and kindness - while eg. falsifying information about suicides, other 'harm' that one is to blame for _if one does not unquestioningly support the ideology..._

When Joyce mentions how, mathematically, if you make one false statement, everything afterwards is false, is one of my favorite ideas from logic: Ex Falso Quodlibet. It means, "From Falsehood, anything follows".

Her grasp of philosophy does seem rather poor - she asserts that self-referential (circular) definitions are invalid, yet she seems oblivious that they play a major role in things like Godel's Incompleteness Theory.
@private15

Yes Monty. Don’t let others twist words to try to breakdown an important and true idea. DeepQ. Just because you say 3 things that contain the same 2-3 words does not make your statement have any meaning nor does it contain any argument worth thinking about. What a bunch of nonsense. The Bibo Sez. Just the fact that you mention a famous philosopher and a theory named “incomplete “ does not mean that circular arguments have any value in defining anything. You are leaving out a lot of important information from Godels incomplete theory. Don’t think that a reference like that can negate and hour of deep conversation.

There's a difference between brainwashing and teaching your kids critical thinking skills! Part of the reason we are in this situation is that EVERY institution, except for maybe some religious institutions, has been captured by this ideology so that kids never hear anything else! There is so much pressure on these kids that they can't question the narrative and they hear no one else question it. Ask your kid to watch this with you and give you her opinion and tell you what she's heard in school and from peers. Parenting isn't brainwashing!

Every once in a while I'll watch an interview and think "that's my favorite one" now here I am thinking it again. This was really really interesting. I would love to see more about how these once worthwhile organizations have become the opposite of what they used to stand for. I would love to hear more about the audience capture mentioned in regards to media and feminism. I also agree that there is a place in all this where the left and the right can come together. We don't have to agree about everything to agree that the health and safety of children is important and worth protecting. So often I see comments saying something like, "the feminists are getting what they asked for", but you know that young girl crying about having to change in a mixed sex locker room isn't getting what she asked for. She didn't cause this insanity, but it is people her age who are paying the price, no matter who is to blame for it. Mistakes have absolutely been made, and we have to work together to fix them. I hope you talk to Helen Joyce again someday.

Agreed, I think the same thing almost every time I see a Benjamin Boyce video. Helen Joyce and Ben Boyce together is just an amazing combination of minds. Both seem very humble, balanced, capable of nuanced and critical thinking. And most importantly, curious. Their endless curiosity results in so much wisdom and intelligence, and their willingness to question everything is quite rare these days. This is a conversation we've been needing to have for some time now, on a public level. Collectively. And they are both fearlessly starting that discourse despite the risk of being labeled bigots and nazis, transphobes and terfs. And they ask the questions and have these conversations in such a kind and empathetic way. I also agree we all need to put our differences aside for the sake of children's well-being, if that is something trans activists care about. Personally I believe most do, are generally well-intended but also misguided, heavily biased, and too quick to say we can't talk about these risks and issues on the off chance it hurts someone's feelings, even if it means children will be harmed because of that silence and censorship. I too see lots of comments almost exclusively from men claiming "feminists are getting what they asked for". Which sounds like a typical victim-blaming mentality to me. Like they do to project blame onto girls and women for our own sexual assaults and harassment and abuse. Now, men are invading women's sports, shelters, prisons, bathrooms and changing rooms where our little daughters are most vulnerable....but somehow of course it isn't the fault of those males..it's the fault of women! Those damn feminists!! Yes, women fought for equality. But this modern gender ideology is *not* feminism, it is a perversion of feminism. Women wanted equal rights, protections, and opportunities as men. We never wanted to cease to exist, indivisible from men. Which is what gender ideology is trying to do. "Woman is indefinable, woman can be anything, an endless void". Yeah, definitely a male-centered definition of womanhood, there.

I cannot wait for her book to come out! A deeper analysis of this issue and how we got here is so needed at this time. The individual conversations around this are so difficult because of the orthodoxy and absolutism around what is progressive. Then add in the ignorance of so many to the details of gender ideology, the orthodoxy surrounding it, and how the activism is playing out. In my conversations I try to find common ground around issues of human rights. Then if that goes well, I bring up some troubling situations such as women being banned from Twitter for affirming the reality of biology vs. the non banning of trans activists who threaten physical violence toward women for not capitulating to their "trans women are women" mantra. I do it not to get agreement, but to make them think about their own assumptions. I guess you could say I am trying to provoke a peak trans moment, maybe not from what I say in the moment, but from what will result from them exploring this issue for themselves and conversations that ensue from that exploration. I think Helen Joyce's comment of the reaction people have to trans athletes as a "gross overreach" is spot on. What started as a human rights/human dignity campaign has gone completely off the beam, overboard. If you have her on again, I would love to hear her thoughts on the radfem emphasis on patriarchy and how she thinks that plays out in the oppression wars. Some people of color are starting to push back against this narrative of people of color having no power, no agency, and that is a really good thing. I think women need to do the same when it comes to how we define womanhood and how we feel about the issue of bullying and name calling and how we react to those two things. Anyway, great guest, great interview, I hope you have her on again - maybe after the book comes out!

Could you imagine how much better off the U.S. would be if it were filled w/ rational people like her instead of ideologues ruled by emotions, and hating their political opponents? Richard Dawkins did tweet about transgenderism once, a few years back. He posed the question "is a trans woman a woman?" He answered, in terms of chromosomes, no. But as a matter of courtesy, he would refer to a trans woman as a woman. He did receive backlash for this tweet. At the time, he was making more waves for being controversial and he had some health issues (a stroke?) which may have been attributed to stress. Since then, he has tried to stay out of controversy. I have heard that this decision was made consciously for his health.

The bathroom thing always get relegated to being unimportant but it's very vulnerable. Just the nature of how women even urinate, having to take their pants all the way to their ankles and expose half of their body, we can't just run off if we're attacked. I take my boy toddler into the women's a room with me because it's safer for both of us. If it's just me, my infant, and my toddler and a man tries to act out, there's really nothing that we can do about it.

Many people play the game of life one move at a time. Ideally, you should be looking as many moves ahead as possible, like chess. A simple move is never as simple as just that move. You must also take into account what that move will lead to and what that move will lead to, etc. If you do not look ahead you will think you are making the right moves even when you are making the worst moves.

Great podast/interview. I was surprised there was no mention of Douglas Murrays excellent recent book on the subject. These two need to talk, is he one of the 30 people she follows I wonder. It would be good if she could build on Murrays work but I hear that she wants to tell her story. It is very encouraging however to know that there are people like you guys doing this important work. Have you had Douglas on? I will check your other videos. the few I have watched are top class, thank you very much.

21:00 Joyce assails the Christian Trinity because, she asserts, one can't have 3 in 1. Oddly, all baryonic (normal) matter is composed of 3 quarks in 1 nucleon.

Well, I think that depends on how you are conceptualizing it. Are you thinking of a nucleon as a set of 3 quarks, that is, the sum of its parts, or are you thinking of the nucleon itself as equivalent to each individual quark? I would imagine she would say that one set of three is not equivalent to all three entities being one thing; though, the difference is admittedly kind of a thin line, as surely each individual quark couldn't exist without the other. To be clear, I think even the wording of your initial comment displays that you also view it one set of three, acknowledging the difference between the one and the three.
@thebibosez7949

@@sameash3153 I am not sure I grasp the distinction you are positing. My point was that Joyce was irrational in her arbitrary dismissal of the Trinity since, she claims, it is ludicrous to have three-in-one. Every bit of visible matter in the universe contradicts this but then, women are not noted for their prowess with either science or religion. Had she said something from a female area of expertise, like, "it is ludicrous to wear a bra with a bikini" or "it is ludicrous to wear pumps and running shoes at the same time", then she might have made rational sense.
@sameash3153
@sameash3153 Жыл бұрын
@@thebibosez7949 The trinity is not a set of three smaller components. Your phrasing, "composed of 3 quarks" is not a trinitarian wording, but a modern set theory wording. The trinity is coequal, triunal; it is not father + son + spirit = God, it is father = God = son = God = spirit = God. So are the quarks in a nucleon separate entities or are they each the same entity? Are they a set of three or are they a set of one? I don't think you're going to sit here in a straight face and say here that one of the three quarks itself is the nucleon, in the way that Christ himself is God. My point is, I think you're being disingenuous thinking that she doesn't acknowledge that sets of three exist. What she obviously disagrees with the trinity about is the triunity. I think your further statements about women in science and theology also reflect poorly on you.

I think if our problem is that definitions are unclear and being blurred that you can DIRECTLY tie it to the redefinition of marriage. Marriage as recognized in the west by law has been specific and geared towards securing an environment for children and their 2 parents. Redefining it legally has a direct impact on society. This isn't to say that I don't think everyone else isn't entitled to be protected by law and to have their assets and medical decisions extended to who they choose to partner with. I fully support those rights for all citizens. I personally think that marriage should have been completely separated from government and replaced with domestic contracts and marriage left to the church. Just my .02.

11:25 "we all know what it means to inhabit a social role". That's also a "circular definition". One cannot understand a fallacy by using the same fallacy to examine it. Also its called circular reasoning, it's nothing new to the human experience. Calling something that's free a new name to sell it isn't ethical. The realization that you are prone to circular reasoning isn't worth money to others.

You seem very skeptical of the concept of oppression in general. I wonder what you would call the power structure that allows males to force their way into female spaces, get women fired from their jobs, assault women without repercussion, compete against women in sports, and get them cancelled from speaking. It's not something that happens by coincidence or luck, and we certainly aren't doing it to ourselves. Who has the power to make it happen? Why are they making it happen? What IS this called? And in what other areas does this (whatever it is) manifest?

This whole issue is perfectly encapsulated in the logo(!) of the WoLF organization, which depicts the archetype of the Wolf of the Eclipse stretching its jaws from heaven to earth, as it begins to consume the sun - or the moon - or the earth, a World, in the darkness of the Female. Feminism has been consuming the world in the darkness of its “female future”, for decades. The Wolves of the Eclipse had a brother, the Cosmic Serpent (all children of a giantess whose smile brought dread upon all who beheld it). Just as the World Worm encircles the world of Men - it has nothing left to devour, and begins to swallow its own tail. So just as “WoLF” is about to utterly destroy the world of men and the light of civilization - it fetches up against the Alphabet mafia, child of its own making, its own excretions.
