Hello, 'au pied de l'arbre' translates directly word for word- 'at the foot of the tree'

@Martin Wallace I thought that's what she said! But why would you use a scythe on a lawnmower?
@christophernation47932 жыл бұрын
@@howtubeable That was indeed difficult to understand, in English and also comprehend as an action. I think she meant that she was going to get her scythe out and cut the grass with it.

Is there any regularity in dropping vowels such as the middle “e” in “mannequin” and “Châtelet”?
@gillybean96865 жыл бұрын
If the "e" isn't accented it's usually omitted, like, au revoir =or-vuar samedi=sam-di etc
@gillybean96865 жыл бұрын
But...u must've meant are there any other vowels that are dropped? No. But there are contractions in pronunciation such as je suis= shwee, je ne sais pas=she pa and others
@christophernation47932 жыл бұрын
As Gilly Bean says, usually omitted. And FR people do this to English words too. It is almost inevitable that a FR politician or economist will refer to 'devlopment' or 'we must devlop ...' My pal French Franck, a banker, does this, with the stress on 'dev'

J'ai jamais entendu la mousse pour décrire une bière - j'ai acheté une pression avec trop de mousse au dessus, mais jamais la mousse toute seule! Peut-etre que c'est un usage regional (ma mère était basque et ma jeunesse était passée dans un petit ville à peu près de Lille dans le Nord-Pas de Calais).

Hi, a little confusing for the anglophones - your pronunciation of idea, should be ideA, (pronounce final 'a'), or else it sounds like ID= short for identification. Also adjective has the emphasis on the first syllable, ADjective, not adJECtive. Totally throws me off every time I hear you say it. And you use these words in almost every episode. Thank you for your great videos, and thank you for resuming this series. I've missed you. A bientôt! :-D
