I've always tried to help esp on baby showers for families of lesser means, I think it's reasonable to have a shower for each baby in a lot of cases. Subsequent babies need fewer large ticket items bc they get them handed down. Other special but common circumstances come to mind such as multiples on the way, or a special needs child, or just a single parent without a whole lot of help pulling it all off. ❤️

Come on, they usually "only" had: - engagement party - bachelorette/bachelor party (maybe plus girls weekend) - wedding ceremony plus reception - pregnancy announcement - baby shower They NEED another party that is all about them. Some people just can't get enough. (unmarried couples obviously didn't have the wedding-related ones)

Fun fact, the blog post that popularised the idea of gender reveals was quite literally just a cake with a layer of pink icing inside. It was purposefully low-key because the woman had suffered a number of miscarriages beforehand and I think this was the first pregnancy that lasted long enough for them to be able to determine the gender. The reveal was as much celebrating that the pregnancy had lasted as much as the reveal itself.

Oh god, in my country, there are exactly zero parties. There can be gifts, though - but in the way that relatives visit (separately) after the baby is born and bring something for the baby, like a toy. In my aunt's family it was normal to give some golden jewelry for the children of close relatives, but it's otherwise quite unusual to give such expensive gifts.

My niece and her husband had a very nice "gender reveal" party several years ago. No bombs or exploding balloons. Her MIL and SIL knew the gender and created a riddle that had to be solved by opening a series of presents. I don't remember exactly what the gifts were, but it was something like the first present was one item like one "onesie." The second was two items like two booties. The third was three items like 3 pacifiers. The fourth gift was a piece of ivy. And the answer to the riddle? A boy. Why? Because if they ever had a boy he would be named for his great-grandfather(Sr.), his grandfather (Jr.), and his father (III).. He would be "IV." "IV"= "ivy." Get it? It was great fun.

In the video you can clearly see the mother takes it out of her hand to do it herself and the little girl screams because she wanted to do it. The mother tries to give her one more chance to try and pop it, thats when the little girl tried to Throw it at the guests instead. She didnt have to do it the mother was prepared to take over but the little girl got angry when the focus was off her and was on the mother and the balloon. I think the lityle girl just ruined what was supposed to be a happy moment between family and frends. This is why the parents should just do it themselves and not let the kids do it. 9 times out of ten the kids ruin it. I love kids but that little girl diserved to be scolded in the end. She threw a dart intending to hit a family member or friend. They were lucky nobody was close to where the little girl threw the dart or it could have been a hospital run instead.

My gender reveals were the old fashioned way. At birth. And it was so special that way. The excitement building for 9 months. When my daughter was born my husband was there. He glanced down as she was being born and shouted “it’s a boy!” then proceeded to make the touchdown position with hands 🙌🏻 raised straight up! So excited, his hearts delight finally realized! I personally dont really get the hate? Unless one of the parents is expecting a certain gender and is dissapointed after the reveal, why not make a party? The families got together, played some guessing games, they cut a cake, saw it was pink, and everybody cheered. Nobody actually cared if it was a boy or girl; it was just a reason for a party. @@lawrencelopez9839 Dude, the kid wasn't scolded because she "may not like to be the center of attention." She was scolded because she could have genuinely injured someone. Disciplining a child isn't bad as long as it's done in the right way. If the kid grows up being able to literally throw pointed projectiles at people with no repercussions, I fear for the neighborhood. Kids need to learn right from wrong, and while I don't think a kid should be forced to partake in something as stupid as gender reveals, that kid needed to learn that it's not okay to throw a damn tantrum which could hurt someone.

Especially because all 3 kids, my girls and my son wanted a boy... and when I found out it was indeed a boy, I wanted to surprise them... but I could never see myself planning a whole party to announce it... I don't think anyone is that invested in me and my crotch goblins to attend a party announcing their genitals.... my kids on the other hand, were very invested. So the surprise was for them alone.

Rules for a successful Gender Reveal: 1) absolutely no fire or explosives 2) if using balloons DO NOT fill them with helium 3) if using a popper DO NOT aim at a person and aim it up and not towards the ground 4) Make sure the person setting up the reveal knows the difference between Male and Female 5) Remember that gender determined thru a Sonogram is not always 100% accurate.

I'm sorry. Maybe I'm too old (?) but I just don't see the point. Like so many other made up special occasions, the big winner is the industry behind these contraptions. We routinely see weddings that cost more than my first house because it's so important to outdo your sister or best friend, and now we have gender reveal parties that more often than not go wrong, sometimes terribly (massive wildfires anyone?). Is it worth having to replace a car or even a house because you left the planning to someone with no inkling of how lethal some chemical reactions can be? Geez. If you absolutely must have a reveal, just stick some pink or blue candles on a cake, and no one will have to take a direct hit to their nuts 🤪.

At around the 7:50 mark -- I felt so sorry for that little girl who seem very afraid of popping a big balloon while her (I'm assuming) parents try to bully her into into it...and when she has an emotional break-down and tosses the pointed dart that was to pop the balloon, she got her hands slapped for it. :( And...although not shown, I am pretty sure given how the parents treated her for not 'complying' to their demands to do something the girl was obviously afraid of doing...that little girl was probably blamed for the balloon escaping and she got into even more trouble, or even spanked. Little kids are often afraid of loud popping sounds, and in seeing balloons break. Instead of the treatments she got from those 2 self centered assholes, she should have been given a hug and told she didn't need to expose herself to popping the balloon and the resulting explosion of sound, and the chaos of the balloon coming apart along with anything in it that would have spilled out of it. I'm 57 and think it's ridiculous to have a gender reveal party...to me it's just another scam to try to get people to bring gifts. It use to be there was a bridal shower, then later a baby shower...now there are all kinds of bullshit 'events' to waste time and other people's money to celebrate the self entitled bridezillas and couples out there who are either getting married and/or having a baby. .
