Quit on the spot , and told Big and Puff , your dead men, and would of told Big and only Big alone in a room , EXACTLY everything I know, and how it’s gonna go down and not to go an essentially quit from Bad Boy that very night and go home. 3. Surveilled the party prior , and met up with the LA homies to scout the place the entire time, and payed them extra for protection. (Gene had a good payroll from Puff it would of cost about 15k to have them fully armed and protected for the night in LA) Either way Big was gonna end up dead at some point between 1996-2001 , there rumors he had a beef with Mase and some Harlem World cats connected to Alpo and Big L, not to mention the whole coast beef, and run in with E-40. The 90’s was just as dangerous as it is right now for rappers.

When Gene was asked in the beginning why Puffy didn't take it seriously when he received intel, I think that it goes deeper than ego. Puff was in enemy territory, and he received information from his security staff that someone was coming to get his camp -- yet he was inexplicably cavalier, brazen, and unconcerned. My suspicion is that Puff was a conspirator, and he was given assurance beforehand that nothing was going to happen to him. To me, that is the only explanation that would make sense because any other reasonable person would have operated with extreme caution under the circumstances -- or left California immediately, if not soon. Puff knew that someone from his camp was going to get touched -- but it wasn't going to be him. The plan was to kill Biggie; that's what my gut tells me. I could be wrong, but that's what I believe. This was a carefully orchestrated hit job, and Puff was in on it from the beginning.

We don’t know what Big told Pac. It might have just been something like “Yo, these dudes are grimey. Watch out for them.” Just a simple heads up to say these guys are really dangerous, they’re not your friends. Pac probably brushed it off because he liked being around them, and people like that, as it made him feel like he had power. Or maybe he wasn’t talking to them by this point because of what he said in the news. I’m not sure about the timeline. Also, Biggie apparently went to visit Pac in the hospital, but that doesn’t really mean much. He could have been trying to play both sides. I don’t know, but “Who Shot Ya” was a very poor decision by someone you consider a friend. Biggie probably did want the throne from Pac, and he had it briefly. Jay-Z was talking Smack too at this time, but he was a nobody. One thing for sure, you can’t deny that “Long Kiss Goodnight” wasn’t a diss towards Pac. He also wrote, and performed this track after he died at a radio station in California! You can’t deny that he insinuates his alignment with the Crips, and tries to take responsibility for his murder. You can’t look over the fact that the Crips mention they were friends with Diddy, and killed Pac. You can’t deny they tried to snatch a Death Row chain. Suge’s best friend was also killed in Atlanta. Apparently by Wolf. If you ask me, Bad Boy instigated the beef. Pac tried to end it, but lost. And Death Row just tried to get even. In the end, two huge losses for the culture. But it gave birth to what we have today. Was it worth it? Absolutely not. It’s the families that suffer the most. Diddy will have this on his conscious forever. And Suge will always feel like he could’ve done more.
