Apollo NASA flight director Gene Kranz and Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise thank the Honeysuckle team for their effort in receiving the first moon walk images, on the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong's first steps.

Gene Kranz, for me the voice of the Apollo era. How great for him and Fred to remember and show their gratitude for the Australian efforts all those years ago. Wonderful to see.

After reading the book "Honeysuckle Creek" recommended by Dave, it's clear the input of the Australian Tracking stations and the people there was absolutely vital to Gemini, Mercury, Apollo, deep space missions and is still of immense importance via the DSN. For such a small population we really do bat way above our league and it's something all Australians should take great pride in.
