Happen to be a big fan of both men, and, of this great song. Much as I love Marc Almond, there is nothing to compare to Gene's original when his voice was so strong, and so original. I've always had GP down along with Roy Orbison as the most original and striking male vocalists, although there are many great ones.

@@rohansrider was that near Birmingham uk? I saw him about 1970, when I was 15, at New Street Odeon Birmingham. Think the support group was Marmalade and a ventriloquist. Fist time he couldn't make it because of snow, but returned. But actually I think he was even better near the end of his life when I saw him two years running at Buxton opera house. Great singer and performer.

Marc Almond isn't far off the age Gene Pitney was when he died which is kind of mindblowing to me. They seemed worlds apart. I always thought it would be hillarious if some of the people who loved this duet went and investigated Marc's back catalog and came across his classics like Sex Dwarf and Seedy Films and what the reaction would have been.
