RIGHT! He can be extremely over the top... but he was savvy enough to make sure he retained rights to his (and I believe the bands) image and logo and makes a killing at licensing! HELL of a businessman, which is his sole motivation for almost every aspect of his interactions with people, so by default, he is extremely narcissistic! Met him once at NAMM and well, he is all about "What's in it for me" So I agree, love/hate is very appropriate description of him.

Good for Gene. He really did it right. Waited to start a family, enjoyed his stardom by way of extended youth, didn't trash himself with drugs, and works hard, but enjoys himself. I was never blown away my the musicianship of KISS, but they really knew how to work with what they had.

cristian roth that doesnt count if you are famous and succesfull like them they are very popular and gene is right about his band im not big fan of their music but they definetly wiped their asses with other bands in the 80s of course there are better musicians but commercially they stayed in game for very long time and thats a success because the pressure must be insane and person must have nerves of steel to not fall in drugs or commit suicide by that point...

Gene Simmons had his whole band planned out while he was in college. He knew the makeup he'd use, the "themes" (alien, cat, 'rock-star' and monster) from his love of Japanese comics. Writing the songs wasn't a problem, and their performances were designed to keep them unique. There's a million singer-songwriter-guitarists out there, .....but there's only one KISS!!

Man I can't stop watching Conan, it hurts me to see how he has the least views and subscribers among the other late-night hosts while I find him to be the most hilarious out of all of them. I hope he visits more english speaking countries to gain clout and fans since from what I've seen he mostly visits non-english speaking countries and I doubt he gains much from that. If he ever visited India or Philippines for example, that would gain him so much clout since these countries speak english and would understand his humor.

One of my favourite Howard Stern guests was Fake Gene Simmons. The guy did a dead-on Gene impression and was constantly pitching hilarious fake KISS merch. There's even an episode where Howard brought both of them face to face.

I had too much fun at Irvine Meadows at a KISS event. There were some money guys related to KISS seated near me who had a couple of bomb shell strippers with them. The staff were getting 100 dollar tips every time they brought them something. There were no phone cams then to record the debauchery. It was awesome though, Gwen Stephanie was in a fur coat sitting with Peter Chris's daughter next to us. Good times.
