My favorite Gene Watson song. Thank you.

This is a great song and that final bit where he belts it out is fantastic. Here's the thing, Gene Watson can still sing it like he does in the recording. I saw him on a show a.c about four years ago and he still sounds the same and can still hit that final note flawlessly. He has taken good care of his voice.

When I think about Gene hitting the high note at the end I get goosebumps. This is a perfect example of what country music should sound like. Interesting fact Little Jimmy Dickens was the first to record this. After that Waylon Jennings did it. I think we all agree Gene owns it

there is no mistaking this for anything other than country, and I love it. My favorite Gene Watson song is< Love In The Hot Afternoon. That song really grabbed my attention and made me listen. As for Farwell Party, I have never really gottin into it no matter who was singing it.

PJ, thank you for reacting to Farewell Party. This was Mom's song. She would dance with my oldest brother when they were going to the club. We played this at her funeral earlier this year.

I sent a text to one of my sisters, telling her one of our members introdiced you to Gene Watson Farewell Party, and that I was thinking over which other ones would be good for you to hear. Her response: "Every damn one of them!"

I was lucky enough to see Gene & The Farewell Party in concert in a small venue (High School auditorium) when he played a benefit to build a YMCA in Chesapeake, Virginia. The real deal.

Hey, PJ, my mom loves Gene Watson. Yesterday was her 80th birthday and Gene Watson was performing at Jefferson Theater in Beaumont, TX. My siblings and I surprised her with tickets. Let me tell you, as an 80 year old himself, he was incredible! He sounded absolutely amazing and was funny as heck. I’m so glad I got to see Gene in person and to experience it with my mom. He put on a truly good show.

Gene Watson is from Paris, Texas. His band is mostly from this area as well. His rhythm section, with Todd Hines on drums and Staley Rodgers on bass formerly played in my brothers band, Blackland. Good ol Gary Gene Watson!
