As a teen, listening to it while my family was on vacation, my uncle made fun of it. He claimed that the lyrics made no sense. I was about 16; he was in his late 30's. That was in 1968. I still have to stop whatever I am doing when it begins to play.

I mean, come on. This isn’t an age thing. Meaning, any age should recognize how amazing this song, vocals, and keys are. He could be singing the alphabet on this, wouldn’t matter. It’s the miracle of the notes and chords that came together. Possibly the greatest pop song ever written.

The organ and all is great but to me this song is Gary Brooker through and through. His singing is fantastic. Timeless song.
