You haven't lost your touch old friend. Your dramatic quoting of the lines of the song truly compliment the depth of feeling that is expressed in the loss and the emptiness of the moment. Keep on keepin on ole pard. Me thinks you need to up date your call sign to something like "One time hip hop but now country CHAMPION." You feel the richness of country because it is white mans soul music." There is not a nickels difference in r&b and traditional country. It was the great Ray Charles that showed that, etched in stone it his country albums. Yeamen and Hallelujah!

I must have missed this reaction when you did it. Vince Gill did some beautiful ballads, the types of songs that country music was built on. The 1990's was in my opinion the last decade where you could actually turn on the radio and hear anything that resembled country music. George Jones (who affectionately nick-named Vince Gill "Sweet Pea") loved Vince so much that he actually requested that Vince play a song at his funeral upon his death. Well, I was at Mr. Jones funeral, and true to George's wishes, Vince Gill did play... and it was most heart-breaking performance that I have EVER seen in my life. Everyone in the audience wept uncontrollably, including Vince Gill himself. He sang a song that George loved called "Go Rest High on that Mountain" which had been written for Vince's brother, but the lyrics fit George's life perfectly. I haven't been able to watch it since. I know that I have seen many youtubers posting reaction videos to that particular performance, but I can't watch their reactions- seeing that once was all this boy can handle!

Crazy story about Vince was that like Chris Stapleton, for years he just wrote songs for other people. Then one day he was singing one of them to the artist who was to sing it and they started to gasp, and told told him he should be the one singing it. They told him he had an incredible voice. He was very shy about it but finally gave in.

Nothing like a song about divorce/separation/breakup/etc to tug at those heartstrings. I know you've done George Jones before, but I don't recall you doing "The Grand Tour"...holy crap, that song will bring out the tears. Most of today’s country music singers are indistinguishable from one another. They all sound alike. Vince Gill belongs in that class of singers that includes George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Gene Watson, Buck Owens, and many others. Like them, Vince is not just a great singer, he’s a stylist. You can’t mistake him for anyone else.

When this song first came out my brother heard it on his car's radio as he was driving home for work.....he said it grabbed him so hard in the heart and gut that he immediately pulled the car over so he could really listen closely and absorb it all....he said he was so moved by his voice and the harmonies and the gospel-like sound....he sat there and cried and cried....of course Vince became his favorite artist right then....Ten years ago at age 59, my brother, Kenneth passed away, but not before he picked a song he wanted played at his funeral.....another magnificent song by Vince and Patty Lovelace......"Go Rest High Upon that Mountain"........so Kenneth is right up there in heaven with the Father and the Son, not because he was so good but because Jesus was so good to us and gave His life for us and Kenneth had accepted Jesus as his Savior....His Sacrifice paid it all for our sins.....Thank you Jesus....see you later Kenneth...
