My first thought was of honey when Gene started to sing. I know I have mentioned this before, but he used to be on Ralph Emery's Nashville Now show a lot. We finally got to see him in person at a concert, and I mentioned how we enjoyed his discussions with Ralph. He said that Ralph was always getting him in trouble. I'm finding that I get quite emotional now when I hear these great singers. We have lost so many.

Great song! Lyrics, delivery, arrangement, instrumentation. Don't remember hearing this before. Gene was a real heartfelt Country singer. Rhonda Vincent looks gorgeous there listening and soaking in Gene's performance.

A few weeks ago I got to take Gene Watson off of my bucket list. Definitely worth the wait. He sounded phenomenal at 81 years young. Gene recorded this first Alan Jackson covered it later

Still hoping he comes to the Texas Hillcountry. I got to see John Conlee at a nothing dance-hall (not a bar) in Llano. ...still weird that Jo El Sonnier passed away there, but everybody's gotta go sometime I guess

This is a great song and a reaction I enjoyed... I have come to enjoy Gene Watson recordings of songs and hits.. Also Just as you mentioned this not being a research channel, I found myself looking up who wrote this song and who first recorded it.. and discovered that it is a Jim Rushing penned song and Gene Watson himself first released this back 1979 and in 1999 Alan Jackson recorded it on an album... I love to check out little details like this... also It is a reason some songs like this one strikes an interest in Poets like myself... From the title it was not what one would have expected, another reason why I have come to love country music.. Thank you for this one..

I love Gene Watson, if you haven’t already reviewed it could you do Gene singing Bill Anderson’s song When A Man Can’t Get A Woman Off his Mind? Please do the Country Road video version from Bill Anderson’s 50th Celebration. Thanks ☺️
