Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I use Word at work but prefer using Google Docs on my Chromebook at home for my research log. I always struggle with the differences between the two. I know how to format in Word but always have to Google how to do it in Google Docs. LOL!

I've been using Google Docs since my enrollment in AGS: Beyond the Basics and I'm still using it in AGS: Branching Out. :-)

That's a great program. Google Docs is a preferred platform by many researchers in the ICAPGEN program as well. Especially in Study Groups for ease of sharing.

Is there a way to highlight data for quick viewing for a printed document? For example, birth certificate, want to highlight date or location in yellow. Want to see the printed document with yellow highlight.

Oh yes. You can do that by highlighting text and using the color formatting features. Hi, I am in the midst of transitioning from using Word since its inception to Google Docs. I install the Google Drive function on my PC and am still trying to figure out how it works. A tutorial on using both, and how changes in one affect the other would be helpful. Should put all your genealogy work from your PC hard drive on to Google Drive as it an automatic backup? What are the pros and cons of doing this. These videos are helpful because I find I get to something I want to do but can't figure out in Google Docs and I have to put the doc back in Word to do it. Also, can you set up a personalized numbering/ lettering system in Google. Like you might want. I. A. 1. a. just an example. Also, the bibliography function was interesting. What about citations? Is there a way to put in citations and then click on them as needed rather than cut and paste each time use? Can you turn your citations turn into your bibliography? I hope this is clear. In other words, the way I see it now, you have to manually add citations, and then cut and paste as needed if they repeat and then you have to add all that information again for the bibliography. Is there a way to index a document in Google Doc for a long research report? You do a great job to explaining complex things. Thanks so much. Arlene
