You using the uni knot too? That knot kept catching my bait casters spool and bird caging it today I got so mad lol. Never had a problem using the double uni knot until today and I about freaked out over it threw less weight on the end threw more weight and no matter what it kept bird caging before it even hit the water. I cast slow thew it fast under handed it flipped it nothing made a difference

I will say, I found this knot very easy to tie, and, it does seem to hold VERY well. I run the braid tag end through the loop and around the braid live line one more time then you do, and I also found that you have to pull the braid tag and live ends, each a little at a time, to keep the knot from balling up ( and if it balls up, it will fail and slip immediately) and if you do, it is a very thin knot that will pass through guides well. Also, I use nail clippers to cut the lines, as I am afraid I will overheat the knot or live fluoro and weaken it, and melting the fluoro leaves an unneeded ball of melted line as well, so more bulk.

Been off the water for a couple years and wanted to refresh my braid to mono knot tying skills. This added a step to my knot that I used before but I like it. Old fishermen can always learn new skills! Wow! Super cool to stumble upon this easy knot. I’ve tried the fg a few times and I’m not too comfortable with it. Practice makes perfect but I got this knot on the first try. With a little extra strength I added a few more turns. 15 roundabouts in the beginning and another 5 in the loop. Then added some saliva before pulling together and it’s super strong.

Looks like a modified Albright knot. The difference being fewer wraps than an Albright and the three additional turns to the inside of the leader. Looks promising! Personally, I prefer putting a tiny drop of super glue on the knot. It works like a champ. I don’t have to deal with burning anything and a tiny drop is all you need. In the field I don’t use either, and hope everything holds! 😉

This is a classic reverse Allbright knot, with less turns than recommended (usually 15-to-20). When using this braid/mono topshot attachment method for casting, the mono section of the loop that was cut and burned will feature a high profile and do some serious "clicking" through the rod guides with repetitive casting, causing friction and cutting down on casting distance. I have had this knot fail more than once, launching the lure into the great abyss.

Ngl, but this improved version of Albright knot is arguably the best knot to learn due to its comprehensiveness, reliability, and strength, which is highly recommended for beginners or even for regular usage. Been using Alberto knot before and lost a lot of lures and fishes, since it tends to slip easily, and then switched to Double Uni knot which is more reliable than the former, although it gets tangled more easily and somewhat reduces my casting distance due to the friction caused by the thicker lead line. Then I decided to re-visit Albright knot, found this video of the improved version, and decided to test it not long after, which somehow improved the casting distance and somewhat it is easier to tie even in high winds condition... Plus ngl, although it is perhaps not as strong as the GT/FG knot, but this knot is still highly recommended for sea fishing because the lead line for it tends to be dummy thick, and this knot could compensate for it without compromising the casting distance, since the Double Uni knot would create a connection that's too thick to go through the tip ring, affecting the casting distance.
