I've watched a number of Alberto tying videos. And I've fumbled through most of them with my 71 YO eyes and digits. Justin's has magic dust that makes it happen. His DUST is the pinch. Pinching the loop into a fold is the KEY. The road taken, ALL the difference. Thanks for the tip.

curious on this knot if wetting it actually makes it easier to slip since the knot is really just the braid friction against the fluoro/mono

This is my goto knot for braid to fluorocarbon for about 5 yrs now. When i learned it, i was told to have the braid go through the fluo loop in the same direction. ie both pointing up or both pointing down through the loop, it makes it slightly more compact. Also you can tighten it in too stages. Pull all 4 strands to tighten the front of the knot and then let go of both tag ends and pull on the main braid and main fluo and that will tighten the back of the knot. Excellent, efficient demonstration. You likely helped out a lot of fishermen with this video!

Great knot. I tied that knot in A tackle store in New Zealand. About 100 times a week for the last 15 years. We call that an allbright knot. No need to pinch the fluorocarbon. We go 4 loops down, 8 loops back. It's a 70% knot. So for inshore light tackle perfect. With heavier braid we use the PR knot. With a bobbin, it's a 100% knot. But takes a few minutes to tie. 30 wraps down, 60 wraps back, 16 alternating 1/2 hitches and clinched with a risutto.

You can improve the Alberto by putting the braid tag through the eye 3 times, it lets you cut the braid tag completely flush to the knot, and in case it slips you have 3 wraps to give. Essentially it’s just a better way of storing that bit of extra braid tag You can also add a Rizutto finish with the braid tag around the braid mainline and that reduces some of the clunking when reeling it into the guides by making a little ramp
@justin_menendez3 жыл бұрын

@colobisman6132 Жыл бұрын
I also run it through the loop 3 times. I do one last thing after tightening the knot. I take the braid tag end and do a couple quick half hitch knots and then cut the braid flush. I've never had it fail.

Gulp shrimp on a jig head. DOA shrimp with rattle (I prefer to tip the hook with shrimp fish bites). I always do good with Gulp shrimp. The stink of them works like dead shrimp, and the fact that you jig head them allows you to work them in front of the fish. Great for skipping mangroves if you don’t go too deep back. I’ve caught reds just throwing on a point and letting it sit. I hope you Slay some fish this weekend.

If you are fishing with a rocky bottom the leader takes a beating, hence the heavier leader. I use 25 lb or 20 lb mono on 15 braid, coastal inshore saltwater fishing. Sometimes artificial reefs off the shore. Protects the braid.
