I followed this process for my GE washer . The biggest struggle was getting it apart . The wash machine is 15 years old . The tub seal wasn't leaking , but nut was mostly gone ( worn away ) and was really dirty . I knew it was a matter of time so I took it all apart and cleaned everything and installed new tub seal using shellac on the outside of the seal . Let it dry a few hours before using . Not leaking a drop . After all that work I know it will be a lot easier to take apart in the future if I ever need to replace the transmission . I especially like the tip of using a small piece of wood to set the seal insuring the seal is set square in tub base . Better plan on a new nut and split ring . Mine both broke taking it apart . Both very soft material.

I wish i watched this before putting my washer back together! I installed new tub bearing and tub seal, but my tub seal doesn't want to sit down all the way! Ikeeps popping back p a tiny bit. So i put a thin coat of RTV silicone around it. Hope this will do the trick 🙏

There is a small seal in the middle of the drive shaft can water leak pass that small seal . If yes can I have ah part # for it please

You will need to remove the front panel and put the washer to fill to see where is the water leaking from

Between the tube seal and the square washer going on the shaft is it normal for a 1/4" or so gap?

I can't tell for sure I have not seen one of those in a long time. The purpose of the seal is to prevent water from leaking out of the tub
