There's never going to be a standalone Grievous show, regular people don't care about him ☹☹
@granalmirantethrawn29723 жыл бұрын
@@derrickstorm6976 well, it's more complicated than that, let's just say that a show with an ugly alien warrior (later being a Cyborg) as the main character isn't easy to make, let alone interesting enough to be a huge success, and it doesn't help that we already know where Grievous's story goes. It's hard for people to feel connected to main characters that aren't humans(or at least aliens similar to humans, like Twi Leks or Togrutas) that's why there aren't many stories with Ithorians or rodians as main characters, and a Kaleesh like Grievous is hardly similar to a human. I wish they did something like an animated movie or short about Grievous, I mean, that would be less risky and it would offer a chance of showing more of him.

I feel like a lot of the times Grievous plays the "Saturday morning cartoon villain", while his original intent, could easily be replaced with other characters. I can easily see Watt Tambor as the one running the Malevolence, or other generals like Loathsome and maybe introduce Durge. I wish they played up Grievous as a notorious Jedi-Killer instead of just the coward who runs away when he starts losing, really gives the idea that he was one of the few villains in Clone Wars that was legitimate threat to the Jedi. While he is still one of my favorite villains this still feels like a disservice to his character.
@mmmmythical Жыл бұрын
That’s a good point, his roles like this really could have been interchangeable with a less intimidating enemy. It just feels like a quota of using Grievous had to be met in the early seasons so it wasn’t always Dooku and Ventress they were up against. He is absolutely without a doubt the one thing the Clone Wars actively made worse in one way or another. I think if the 2003 series hadn’t been released before episode 3 then it probably wouldn’t have been as big of a deal to anyone
@emperorkiron3470 Жыл бұрын
I actually have grown to like coward grievous, at least some. His cowardice makes him feel less like a machine like Vader and more like an animal whose main goal is survival. @mmmmythical11 ай бұрын
@@sulwhale3171I mean, as the creator he technically has a right to decide what to do with his characters. According to “The Making of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith” they really struggled to nail down a design for Grievous initially, but I assume it happened in time for the animated series to take it and roll with it. Idk if that was for character reasons or simply because they couldn’t find a look that fit. But regardless, I do think while the animalistic part of his character is interesting in its own way, it’s not as threatening as an antagonistic force. Like when Dooku flees, it feels like strategy. When Grievous feels, it just feels like petty cowardice. He talks up how great he is, but he doesn’t live up to it. I don’t think that’s a bad character trait but for the droid leader of the Separatist army he should be more of a menace. Otherwise no dice he survives 3 years of the Clone Wars

That version has never been canon. Dave kept continuity with what George did for episode 3. And honestly after playing Battlefront 2 so many times I understand the character a lot more. He’s not force sensitive and he can’t block lightsaber blasts like a Jedi, only option he’s got is to run away when he’s outmatched and outgunned. The 2004 version is bull.

@@vnom84 To be fair, that version of Grievous was never CANON-canon, Lucas made that clear with RotS and his commentary on Grievous and the interactions he had with directing where Grievous needed to be in status for the old Clone Wars show. Lucas wanted your Saturday-morning cartoon villain, and that's what we ultimately got as the canon-canon.

People hate the Slavic voice and prefer the Tardicoski one, but honestly I think Wood's performance is more recognizable, like nothing against DiMaggio because he's a talented gentlemen, but Matthew was able to try something unique. Plus it makes him sound like an actual alien, since he was originally an organic Kaleesh before he had been modified into becoming what he is now. Plus the whole vocal effect makes can be really terrifying. If they had kept Grievous' depiction from the 2003 series along with Matthew Wood's performance, then I think Grievous would've been a more well recieved Villain!

Grievous fans complain a lot about canon Grievous, but I actually like the (what I call) Starscream Grievous better. He's a more believable villain. Sure, legends Grievous is badass but he's too much like Vader. Just a menacing, quiet, killing machine. Cannon Grievous taunts, laughs, fights dirty, and has no honor. I like that type of villain as I think it fits well. And with just his droid army manages to take on both the Republic and the entire Jedi Order in a galactic war. That's impressive, and shows his tactical prowess. Aside from that, he does manage to hold his own or even defeat Jedi masters on multiple occasions. He does that with no force ability and a robotic body. On top of that he is an established Jedi killer in canon lore, we know he has a dozen or so Jedi Knight kills. Very few characters in Star Wars can do that. I always liked the line where he says "You expect victory over Jedi, but all you give me to fight them are battle droids." In the end Grievous was nothing but a pawn, but man he turned the galaxy upside down and shook the Jedi Order in the process. That's boss status in my book.

Of course, commander! You are unflappable and unstoppable! But it is a very pity that your persona was CORRECT only for the first 13 months (starting from April 8, 2004), and for the remaining 16 years the name Grievous associated with those two misunderstandings that were after you. You appeared in only 6 episodes (6!!), you have only 7 minutes of screentime (7!!), you have only 9 replicas (9!!), but it was enough for us to love you then, in 2004th, and we continue to love you to this day... but only those who still remember you.

That's one of my problems with the prequels. If there had been only one villain other than Palpatine for all three films, the time spent introducing each new villain would have been spent better developing some other aspects of the story.
