Michael happened. Carly had Michael and convinced Jason to pretend that he was Michael's father so that AJ wouldn't know that he was actually Michael's father. The Q's got a bit too enthusiastic in their efforts to get Michael back to AJ when they found out. AND remember, he was being nice and helping the Q's because he genuinely loves Emily who he still did consider his sister AND he had promised Robin he would look after them.

The Q’s got too enthusiastic about taking Michael away from Jason before they ever found out. When they still thought Jason was the father, they tried to take Michael from Jason by force. That caused a rift that never completely healed.

Because of Emily. When Michael came on the scene, all bets were off. Once Sean Kenan left, Jason and AJ went back to being mortal enemies.

I liked the fact that Carly is in the PCPD with two of her future husbands and, of course, Jason. How interesting. So I have a question, it seems like Jason was getting pretty close to the Q's again in these scenes, so what happened to change all that? When I started watching the show he pretty much hated them and its pretty much still the same today.

Jason only did that for Robin, she asked him to do it. In the end it was more than he could do as he gave an inch and they wanted more & more. He did not hate them/he hated that they did not get it. He always had a soft spot for Emily/Lila and Monica. It was the others that annoyed him.

AJ wasn't a jerk untill Carly started getting manipulative about her Whos the Daddy game

Oh please, AJ was a jerk as far back as high school and he never changed, just got worse.

In 1991 the teen AJ (Justin's) who came home from HS was a jerk. But as his story became clearer and he and Jason became supportive of each other over AJ's issues with Alan, he became more sympathetic. Especially after being dumped by Nikki Langton at their wedding and trying to kill himself. Justin's AJ was very sympathetic and easy to empathize with. Then when Sean took over the role in early '93, AJ was way more interesting and likable. Did AJ still have problems and was at times annoying? Yes. But he was not a bad guy - just a guy with (as Jason said) "bad luck." @@beegee1960

@@beegee1960 AJ was cleaning up his act. Carly made it worse by drugging him, pouring alcohol on him and getting Sonny to force AJ to give up his rights.

If only Sean Kanan stayed as AJ it would have been different. They were going to make Carly and AJ the next couple because of the amazing chemistry between Sarah and Sean. Then he left suddenly and they cast someone that had no chemistry with her and changed the direction it was going in. I read the only reason they had AJ as Michael's father was because Sean was supposed to play out that storyline.
