Really? Was he better?He was a drunk long before Michael was born; he was drunk the day he ran his car into a tree and ruined his brother’s life. Hell, he was drunk the night Michael was conceived. He had numerous drunk driving arrests. He thought he was God’s gift to women and hit on every woman he met. And he never took the blame for anything. He failed in nearly everything he did, because he always screwed up somehow. He was a jerk who tried to manipulate everyone around him. Remember him telling one of his friends that he needed to learn how to manipulate his parents? When he found out about the baby, he threatened to take him away from his mother. He could hardly claim she was a bad mother; because she had never been one before. If he had offered support to Carly instead of threats, she would not have felt pressured to lie about the baby. She was no more an unfit mother than he was an unfit father. Something he proved when he could not connect with Michael even when Jason bowed out of the picture and left town, leaving AJ in control. He blamed Jason, but if the situation had been reversed, it would not have taken Jason long to connect with Michael. And you know the ironic thing? A J brought about the whole thing when his bad decision to drive drunk, resulted in Jason’s brain damage, leaving him without the benefit of a lifetime of training in determining right from wrong. That one decision ruined his not only his brother’s future, but his own.
