I feel like all ships are mandatory refreshes. Especially on newer accounts if you can swing it. Getting your fleet unlocked in half the time is huge.

recommend going for regular rex imo. not hard to farm (200 mk 1 raid) and will make your fives/crex really pop in 3v3 especially if you get crex's omicron

Iden is a way better defensive team in Carbonite than QuiGon, QuiGon can be 2 shot easy but Iden, if you do not have the answer (Wampa, which can actually beat QuiGon too) you won't kill her
