It was bad. But part of why it was so bad was they had to do it in basically no time and there were no swap kits yet.

It was a car assembled for a TV production in literally no time. They did exactly what Roadkill wanted.

That was the only way to use that drivetrain. You couldn't delete modules then, you had to use the entire harness and every piece of electronics for the thing to work. Nowadays you can buy standalone ecus and everything.. they literally explained all of this in the episode.

When they raced richard rawlings for discovery, dick referred to The David Freiburger and Mike as Internet upstarts. Like they were some newbies to the car game, and not chief and editor of hot rod magazine and race legends. Then was some queerness on Dave and Mikes end about not being able to film alot of it. And Gas Monkey built there car over months and Mikes and Daves was slapped together over night. Then Richard was confused on how Drag racing worked😂

I think your carb problem is related to the oiling system. On the highway over time oil enters the oil pan. Entering town the oil pressure changes and oil is pulled back into the accumulater tank. Removing that much volume in the sump will increase vacuum and suck the fuel out of the carb. Or conversely push oil into the pan affecting vacuum levels. Likely a smaller accumulator would work better.

You have to re jet the carb after about 4500 ft in elevation carbs don't work well with sea level tune at all, I live in CO been there done that

Dear Roadkill, I assume you have vast knowledge of American V8's and a vast network of contacts when it comes to making things happen. The Toyota 2JZ straight 6 was a pretty cool swap I thought. If you can justify putting a Japanese straight 6 in the front of an American car, can you justify putting an Italian V8 in the middle of an American car - yes! Your exactly right, we took an Edelbrock 650 tuned in Baker/ Barstowe and ran it it over rabbit-ear right where you were and it dropped from almost 13 to low nine. And remember anti-knock rating in fuel comes into play @ altitude, why Denver offers 93 @ most Shells. Think it might be too much carburator; try a 200 cfm smaller, and tune too idle timing?
