Mr. Tarrou, Thank you, thank you, thank you! I take AP stats online because my school does not offer it. Since it is an online class, I do not have the luxury of a face to face teacher, but you have made this possible! Thank you so much for helping me prepare for the exam. I really appreciate the quality and enthusiasm evident in all of your videos. Emily

I just want to share my passion for math and give students the opportunity to get free math help if they choose to take the initiative to seek it out like you did. Now go continue to spread the word and make me the #1 choice in Australia:D

WOW...great to see you back again year after year Ross, I wish all my subscribers were as loyal as you...BAM!!! ...I assume you have shared my channel info with this years teacher and all your classmates already too:) Keep us posted when you graduate so we can congratulate!!!

This year I did Geometry videos while teaching 4 subjects with no planning period. As my video library becomes more complete and I have more time, I will go back and improve some videos and add to areas that are a bit weak like my probability videos. I hope you find the rest of my videos helpful and you figure out your probability questions...they are difficult.

the full formula including compliments and overlapping (and) is really effective for finding things out. Kinda thinking as I'm typing but you have the knack of giving a whole new perspective to the tings we're doing in an Australian University. It has really helped solidified my understanding more! You're a good role model for a maths teacher- so enthusiastic! Thanks so much

I'm glad you landed on my channel while you were seeking extra help and find my videos so helpful! My Stats library is pretty complete, I hope you get all the help you need from it for this semester. Good luck with that half/half class next semester too, who knows, I might have some videos that will help you from my selection of over 400:)

Thank you very much. Just starting making videos last school year, I tried to keep up with my Precalc class and Statistics at the same time. Since word problems involving probabilities took me a lot of time to make with everything else I did what I could. I do plan on filling in the gaps next school year when my schedule is not so frantic.

Tree diagrams are good to set up when you have a sequence of events and Venn diagrams are usually better when there is one trial/observation/event with multiple possible outcomes.

If you look at the original way the information is given, .4+.3-.12=.58 and with the Venn diagram filled in you can just add the areas together, .28+.12+.18=.58
@profrobbob11 жыл бұрын
The rectangle is your sample space thus has an area of 1. 1-.58=.42

The wonderful think about Venn Diagrams is that they prevent you from counting the overlap area twice so you don't have to correct for that:)

This helps a lot. AP Stats is one of my harder courses this year, and it doesn't help that I have a monotonous teacher who doesn't like to waste time explaining everything going on. She insists we do the notes - which we do of course do - and understand most of the material on our own. This will surely help with my quiz tomorrow however, thank you.
@profrobbob9 жыл бұрын

I apologize and I can't disagree. These videos are only to teach the core concepts and probability questions can get very confusing. I am working hard to make a very good math channel and to avoid any issues in the future I make up my own examples and don't use ones from the book. Probability questions are difficult to make up, especially since I teach full time. At the time I was making these videos I was teaching 3 subject and doing videos on Precalculus and Stats in the same year.

This is somewhat of a particular question, but is the "c" in the notation for the complement of "B" truly an exponent, or is it a denotative superscript?
@profrobbob11 жыл бұрын
denotative superscript. Thank you for watching:)
@shrimpboyho10 жыл бұрын
Hey ProfRobBob, There is one error in your video. At 9:26 you have P(A U B) = .28 + .12 + .18 This is wrong. It should be P(A U B) = .28 + .18 - .12
@profrobbob10 жыл бұрын
The great thing about venn diagrams is it simplifies the math. Once the Venn diagram is set up correctly it prevents you from counting the overlapped area twice, or multiple times. Without the use of the Venn diagram P(A U B) = .4+.3-.12 is .58, with the use of the Venn diagram P(A U B) = .28 + .12 + .18 is .58

I appreciate the videos but I can't help but feel that the problems shown and the way you teach uses problems much easier than those given on AP homework or practice multiple choice. I'll watch videos and understand the simple concepts but then my homework has much harder questions to work and I'm completely stumped.

For P(A and Math) why isn't it P(A) times P(Being in Math)?
@profrobbob10 жыл бұрын
With a full two way table we can just ratio with all the information given. Since P(A and B) = P(A)P(B) only when events A and B are independent, this can be a check for independence between two events. If P(A and B) does not equal P(A)P(B) then you have shown that these events are Dependent and not Independent.

@profrobbob10 жыл бұрын
This is not going to be helpful as a trick, because the language can be difficult to understand, but work with a peer that is doing well or your teacher and read a bunch of these types of questions and try to figure out the condition together. Have them explain their thinking if they get the answer and you do not. And...don't give up! I wish I had time to do private tutoring and work through some with you but I don't...sorry:(
