General's Command 将军令－yangqin solo 扬琴独奏 － performed by Mi Xuanye 米炫烨

The General's Command is a traditional tune from the Sichuan region of southern China that dramatizes the heroic actions of soldiers locked in combat on the battlefield. The piece is comprised of four sections: war drumming, pre battle ritual, marching, and fight until death.
This is the one of the most well known solo pieces for yangqin. It showcases the incredible range of the instrument, and the virtuosity of the performer.
Mi Xuanye is currently a graduate student of the yangqin at the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing. At the time of this recording, Ms. Xuanye was an instructor at MTSU Center for Chinese Music and Culture.

If it wasn't for my less than dependable hands due to disability that makes them harder to use for a lot of things I would love to learn how to play one, the other, or both. :D

Modern yangqin is tuned chromatically, like the piano, therefore is capable of playing any key.
