General Signals Type 1 Electronic Bell

I purchased this bell board recently from eBay US for $23 USD.
The circuit board was specified as untested in the listing, but it was worth the gamble given the low price.
Upon receiving the board, an initial test unfortunately revealed it as non-functional. However, a friend of mine who is an amateur in electronics managed to recondition and overhaul the board into fully functional status.
This board was manufactured in July 1996 by Western Cullen Hayes (as were all type 1 boards). The specific version of this board is 'BELL5', which dates back to June 1994. The next revision 'BELL6' was released in September 1998.
Following restoration of the board, I decided to install it into my General Signals type 1.5 electronic bell housing.

Ah, a proper sounding GS Type 1 e-bell. Certainly better than those “adjusted” ones, argh.

@@McKHAust Whoever thought it would be a good idea to adjust them should be given a good bonk on the head. BTW, I actually have some interesting V/Line stuff from the 1980s and 90s, such as a passenger timetable from February 1987, a Working Timetable from February 1987, a Master Train Plan from February 1990, and thousands of used and unused V/Line Edmondson tickets, among others.

Those adjusted ones are actually loud volume Type 2 models, not adjusted Type 1’s like previously thought.

I've noticed that cone in the bottom in all sorts of positions over the years, is it to help bounce/direct the sound to where its needed most? If so, how effective is it really?

Yes the cone is designed to direct the sound.
