The "incident" with the Eldar girl child was the one moment where Vulkan let his emotions overrule his reason and he reacted in the moment contrary to his usual demeanor. And it shamed Vulkan's sense of honor. Besides it's 40k and everyone has at least one PTSD moment.

i dunno about that, honestly everything ive ever seen involving angron seems like just bad writing but if we ware to try and reationalize i think its fair to assume big E was ashamed of angron the secund he heard about him. heres the only way i can imagine the thought process went he was after all, the only son that outright failed, kurze landed in a similar situation and still won, as did every other brother regarding their circumstances, all except angron the failure. angron the PRIMARCH son of the emperor himself made a fucking SLAVE, a primarch being enslaved, and having screws put in his brain ireversably fucking up his mental and making him unreasonable bloodthirsty. But he didn't and his son understandably hates him for it, mainly because...for whatever dumbass reason, the Emperor still thought him mentally fit enough to take leadership of the War Hounds. It's weird, the salamanders are my favorite chapter, but my next favorite are the Dark Angels, who are willing to kill innocents to hide secrets. I think I'm just drawn to Green Chapters, because Vulkan and The Lion are my 2 favorite primarchs as well.

The real reason GW doesn't have the elites of the Salamander's available in 40k? While specialty with their fire specialty, they're equivalent to the Custodes, against flesh based horde armies (aka, the ORCS and Tyranids). Which means...too powerful, only for their elite line...and charge $20 a model...ugh. Also yeah, all the traitor legions? Big E was a bad, bad Dad. Angron had Emps and custodes porting in during their last stand, take over the whole planet, and ask Angron "Son, what do you want done to the High Riders?" "KILL THEM ALL!" "All right, you want your survivors to do it, or just by your hands?" "...all of us, and all the other Gladiators they added too." THAT would give the purest loyalty. Hell, that's why The Khan (Jaghahtai Khan does NOT get enough credit) had HARD questions about Big E.

When I first learned about the Emperor's Angels I at first didn't know who I would like but after about a month I knew that the Salamanders were my favorites because they truly believe that the point of the Imperium is to save humanity and have and show compassion which as someone who absolutely can't help but empathizing with anyone except bullies I absolutely love them. Then I had difficulty picking my favorite traitor legion but I was first sold on the Death Guard from Mortarion's liberation campaigns in the Great Crusade but his hatred of Psychers made me dislike him and I just love the Emperor's Children because Fulgrim is a great tragic character who wasn't perfect but was still ultimately good but he got corrupted by the Layer blade and it all went downhill from there that and snake boi.

In all fairness to Drake Daddy that young eldar was probably 500 years old and was clearly throwing doom bolts at shit including his sons and killing them. If I was big V the pilot light wouldn't have even lit yet on my flamer before I was hammering the trigger and I wouldn't have finished until id emptied a few promethean tanks.

Don't do this, it's wrong!" some Night Lord's pulled up with flamers and well... thus began the feud between the two. At least that's what another lore channel Guess I'll have to check out the original source material to know for sure.

EDIT - never mind. Just go by what Bradley says about the Night Lords, since I can't find my original source. Disregard the details of what they do below - they do get Salamanders killed but probably not in the way I remember. It' s been a while, and I might be mixing up two separate incidents, but I believe that entire Eldar child burning thing was a result of Vulkan raging at the actions of Konrad and the Night Lords during a joint operation. Naturally it wasn't the Heresy yet so he couldn't burn Konrad for ordering friendly fire on his sons who were in melee with Eldar, and the nearest thing he could burn happened to be an Eldar child (I think a child soldier of sorts). Of course, his conscience was in agony the entire damn time, but just this once with Konrad's people killing many of his sons, his rage overpowered his conscience. Mind you, I wouldn't put it past Konrad to have foreseen Vulkan doing this, and piloting fate so that Vulkan would end up burning said child and then feeling horrible about it in the future (I haven't read the book, but it seems like a very Konrad thing to corner the friendliest Primarch into doing the most brutal things just to feel better, or maybe even vindicated), but either way, I AM somewhat sure this had something to do with Night Lords being Night Lords and Vulkan not being able to take his burning rage out on his brother (once again, it wasn't the heresy yet). I like to imagine that the Eldar child was happy to hear Vulkan reminding the Konrad that his thunder hammer was, also a hammer. And then reminding him again, but physically. If I'm remembering two different events, then just know that the Night Lords did indeed friendly fire the Salamanders who were in melee with the Eldar. Vulkan was indeed raging harder than he would ever rage until Istvaan V (he generally gets SUPER PISSED when anyone betrays and then kills his sons). And he had to release enough of his rage to avoid killing another Primarch before the Heresy had even begun.
