Cain is easily one of the best characters in all of 40K but he doesn't have the so-called Batman factor that yarick has because I mean when your main enemy is the biggest boss of all the orks and that enemy respects you and then goes after the person who takes your life it kind of says something, like when you're someone that it takes a demon Primarch to remove you from the story it kind of says how important you actually were, and cain has only had to deal with chaos Marines and tyranids in equivalent of scariness like Great character good person I respect him but

In one of the books Dorn during the battle for the Imperial Palace starts talking about a new feeling he's experiencing and describes the feeling. He gets told that that feeling is generally known as fear and he's surprised because he didn't know he was capable of feeling fear. So if a Primarch can get that feeling you bet a space marine can. It's what you do with the fear that matters. Do you run from it or do you run towards it. Dorn ran towards it as he wanted to destroy that feeling forever.

Spartan 3's a budget spartan 2's, more gruelling training, but cheaper armour and less augmentation. Most of their stock was drawn from orphaned children who's parents were killed by coherent forces

@spes_marine-42Their augmentations were chemical and less evasive, but by no means were their augmentations less impressive than their Spartan 2 counter parts. Where they fell short, was their lack of mjolnir armor, due to their heavy costs.

Thank you! This was very entertaining, and also rather useful. The backstory of my homebrew chapter involves the remnants of the former chapter being subjected to psychic assault for an extremely long time, causing a number of the survivors to go on a deliberately suicidal mission which was motivated partially out of shame for feeling fear. Up to now I wasn't too sure how lore-accurate that would be, but it sounds like the conditioning isn't utterly perfect, and sufficient time and effort (over a century, in this case) may be sufficient to partially undo it. Awesome stuff 😄

I’m going to let you finish but there is nothing in the lore about the amygdala or hypothalamus so space marines would indeed feel through their lizard brain fear. Their indoctrination would dampen their outward expression of fear but enough stimulus could overpower the indoctrination since we’re talking hypnosis vs biology.

Thought for sure this would something to do with the Secret Level video, lol. Looks it was merely an inspiration, well still it does provide an excellent example of the topic. That first Marine to die feared the weakness of his formerly mortal human self, that 2nd must've had some kind of fear as well. Their leader, the Blade Guard guy survived because he was worried. Not afraid, for Titus, and Titus? That guy is too busy showing Chaos filth what fear is to have any time for fear or worry himself.

This is before I watched the video: The way I always interpreted the "know no fear" thing is that Astartes would never be vulnerable to terror or intimidation tactics, or panic and flee due to broken morale pike normal people, hut they would still have the sense to retreat and be cautious when faced with an overwhelming enemy or hazardous situation. I recall there being an onteraction beyween Loken an a remembrancer where he talked about the no fear thing, and that it makes Astartes immune to terror, but not logical apprehension or anxiety. He even remarks that it is due to the Astartes' magnified senses, including cautious anxiety, that has saved them in numerous occasions.

Yeah, I always interpreted the line as "Astartes would never be vulnerable to terror or intimidation tactics, but when facing something they clearly cannot win against, they would sensibly retreat and use caution, but that retreat would be controlled as best as possible, without panic"

Can't remember the name of heresy book that's a collection or short stories, but one is about a UM scout lost in the pharos who sees something 'probs the hive mind' and screams into madness. The VA did an excellent job at making the hairs on my neck stand up in that story

i like the Nightlords because they feel like outcasts and rejects even among traitor legions . other warbands hate them . they dont try to justify themselves like other traitor legions . and i like Konrad and the depression that sorrounds him and his legion . i like their tragic aspect and their homeworld . i like the different characters with different morals . do not forget that this is fiction and you allowed to like bad guys in fiction even if you find some villains relatable sometimes . stop being a pu$$y.

Helsreach, the apothecary is described as shedding tears during the combat, not for his self but for damage dealt to his brother's and the human life lost. I'm fairly sure anyway been a long time since I read it.
@thedarkwolf67
@thedarkwolf67 59 минут бұрын
@ honestly i bring it up because it’s true. And all Legions actually encourage it. Sorrow isn’t weakness, it’s acknowledgement of what was lost. No Foes Remain was a space wolf, in the book Echoes of Eternity. The last one from a squad, hiding away for a breath. He cries, wondering why this is happening, what to do… before touching a Brother’s Aquilla with a smile. “The symbolism of the moment” He then ran to die, both axes in hand. Astartes aren’t human… and yet… That said! I know what I’m reading next!!
