A lot of people quit doing crossovers at about the half way point. Something that works for me, is when I get to about the halfway point where the water gets shallow, my brain begins panicking a bit, I just tell myself 5 more seconds and start counting down, when I finish counting I'm close enough to the wall that failure is not an option and I will just stick it out. Kind of weird but to each his own, singing just never worked for me.

0321 here... enlisted into the Corps as a 2531 Field Radio Operator then arrived from FROC to reception 2nd Mar Div at CLNC... 2nd Reconnaissance Bn sent screeners to see if any of us wanted to take the "INDOC" and try out for their unit... myself and about 15 other US Marines (me and another Boot 2531 named Hughs along with the rest Infantry guys) signed up and immediately were driven to Onslow Beach... myself, Hughs, and 5 others passed the INDOC, then we were in RIP (Reconnaissance Indoctrination Platoon) for 6 weeks... after RIP, I got orders to attend US Army Airborne School at Ft Benning GA immediately... after grad, I attended and passed then ARS (Amphibious Recon School) at Ft Story NAB Little Creek VA in May 1986... upon grad from ARS, we earned our 0321 Reconnaissance Marine MOS... You best improve on all those numbers im guessing. I was a navy rescue swimmer not a Marine but my guess is it is no different than any other special services. Be very comfy in the water! I cant stress this enough. Find a recon Marine and only trust what he tells you not me or anyone else. Ask your recruiter to find someone. Last but not least dont quit. Thats easier said than done. You best be prepared. You can imagine how competitive this is. Its also easy to say it on social media than it is to prove it. 18 yr olds can become recon but you a dozen near impossible training spots you gotta overcome. If you cant breeze through this and expert shooter with weapons used you are wasting your time. All Marines are way above avg muchless be near the top of this group day 1. Good luck you will need it.

I want to attend (and hopefully pass) a combat diving school, an airborne (or combat sky diving school), conduct raids (in training), and finally blow stuff up (in training). After all my combat training and experiences, I then would like to pursue a career either in information technology or as some type of aviation mechanic or wheeled vehicle mechanic. My first preference though is Information Technology. The 3 branches I'm still strongly considering right now are Army, Marines, and Navy. I would throw the Air Force in there too but I haven't done enough research on their Special Operations Groups and careers to really consider them at this time.

Alright, im an Army infantry vet (9 years) and am going this week to find a prior service recruiter and hopefully getting a SARC contract. Do you have any experience in army to navy cross overs? And if yes what advice could you give to me? I don't know what to expect with the navy and any advice would be welcome. Thank you, your videos are a great help.
@GeneralDischarge5 жыл бұрын
We will get back to you on that one, but for now the only advice we can give is to ensure your contract guarantees you a shot at the SARC pipeline. Good luck and let us know what happens!

Don’t do recon contract, go infantry then try for recon, if you fail recon training on a recon contract you’ll be re-assigned where the corps needs you (could be anywhere from aviation to cook). Fail on an infantry contract and you can try again without worry.

Derek Welch So naturally that conversation starts at the recruiting office and making sure you're eligible for the military. But of course you're curious now and that doesn't hurt. Pre enlistment advice for anyone usually looks a lot like, "Hey, be sure about what you want to do and don't let anyone stop you."

@romansanchez70775 жыл бұрын
Focus on being a marine first force recon later, take all the operator thoughts out now, and think about why you really want to he there. Focus on running and pullups, strengthen up your legs with squats and deadlifts for the hikes. Get used to being treated as a 5 year old, and ya that's it. And if ur gonna be 03 u better be running all the time, cause bootcamp, and itb is hardly any running but ur unit will be. We do 3 mile flak runs every day with fireman Carries, log drills, and practicing calling 9 line and tourniquets

Recon, like SEALS, SWCC, Raiders and USAF PJs operate in the water. Almost all of these guys go through dive school which is a bitch to pass. Special Forces and Rangers send a few to the Army's Combatant Dive School as so their swim standards are higher.

Do not go to boot camp with a recon contract. If something happens like you getting hurt in indoc or you just can’t hack the Marine Corps will send you wherever they need warm bodies. Go under a infantry contract and when you get finished with ITB they will give you a chance at recon indoc. If you don’t make it you go back to infantry. There you can get training and try again later.
