Hello!Could you share some tips about how to use color checker in the showreel? like how and when to use it.
@galravid-tal85174 ай бұрын
Sure! Usually using color checkers in Lookdev setups when you show you model in turntable with all textures and shaders, using some studio lighting or some soft lights to help the viewer see your material values, most of the time the light setup in these scenarios will not be "Cinematic" as you try to show case mainly the shaders materials and textures

This is fantastic! I feel so inspired. I was curious since ive seen a lot of people do it before, but what are the color checker cards for in your renders? I understand the vfx use of it to match color of footage but what do you have it referencing when everything in your scene is already 3D?
@galravid-tal85174 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! And about the color checkers, since my references are real life images I'm trying to test my light and material values to get me as close as possible to the desired look

Hey, I am also a 3D Generalist planning to make a reel. Is there anything you would change in this video, in terms of presentation? Because I am think about going with similar layout and editing style. Fantastic work btw!
@galravid-tal85175 ай бұрын
Hi! I believe that this presentation is good to show case your work, maybe a Plus is also to include more detailed demo reel (where you really break down your best scenes and show how its done) But in general I think this is a straight forward reel

How you came this good at cg no short answer pls.
@galravid-tal85175 ай бұрын
So first I would say that it wasn't short path either, Starting from Digital photography and learning about composition, colors and story telling, I went to a 3D and animation course in my country. There I learned how to model texture and render, I got really inspired by cinematics and VFX works so I started to learn things by my self too. At this time I also got into a job in a VFX studio in my country so I gain lot of knowledge about compositing, working in a team and more 3D related knowledge. I'm always looking into personal projects to improve my skills and workflow, trying to challenge my self each time with something new. Looking for best artists to take notes from and learning fundamental things to improve my eye (colors, composition, frame analysis, working with references) I believe that the mix of excitement and passion I have for this profession is also a key role in my progress. I know that its not easy, but I'm doing my best to keep moving forward and trying to see the progress I made so it will drive me to be even better :) How it helps and feel free to reach out!
