Here's a review of the Gen4 Glock 34 practical/tactical model with some shooting from the 12m line, the 30m line, a demonstration of how to field strip and assemble the gun, and a discussion of what I think of the gun overall.

Great breakdown sir, just picked up this particular model, been looking for one for sometime. Will work into my edc rotation. Prefer full size sidearms for carry purposes over sub and compacts. Hk usp 9mm full size v1 have been my edc for the last 6 years. Always find your reviews and breakdowns very helpful and informative sir. Thank you and God Bless

I love my gen 3 glock 34. I would never get rid of it. It cost me an arm and a leg to get it here in MA new in the box but it is well worth the jacked up price. I have Dawson precision fiber optic front sight with a blacked out rear but I'm thinking of changing to the tfo sights for the night time capabilities. I'm going to do a review on it soon. Great video as always.

I was considering the G34 but ultimately decided on the M&P9 Pro Series 5'' Glad I did. Awesome shooter. I got the G17 Gen3 back in 2010. I've dressed it up with Warren Tactical sights. It's got a really sweet stock trigger. Also have the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow. So, think I'm good to go in the competitive 9mm genre.

I used the G34 Gen 4 in competition for four years and it has served well, not had any malfunctions requiring work or anything beyond clearing the rare jam. It is still my every day carry gun. Despite the discomfort on my hip, I trust it with my life and my family’s life. Fantastic gun.

I love the triggers' to feel like a light 5-6lb DAO revolver trigger so I use the NY 1 trigger spring used with either Glock OEM '-' connectors if it's a Gen 4 or w/new '.' connector from Gen 4's in all my Gen 3's in all of them. Since my FDE G4 34 came with '-' connector I just bought a few more '-' connector's, swapped those into my other Gen 4's, then took the Gen 4 '.' connector's and installed them into my Gen 3's, the - in the G4's and the dot in the G3's equal out almost perfectly! LOVE those triggers' as they almost all are about 5-5.5 after LIGHTLY polishing firing pin safety and trigger bar(but buy extra trigger bar and safety plunger JIC it needs warranty work!). VERY consistent and SMOOTH trigger pull throghout entire travel w/no creep or slack and an extremely short and crisp reset, couldn't ever go back to the coil trigger spring, and NY 1/2 trigger springs are much more durable! Use Ameriglo Pro I-Dot/GL-301 w/u-notch rear sight(which I do recommend over square-notch), kind of a marriage of the XS Big Dot's and the Trij HD's. Trijicon produced and installed tritium vial's front and rear, no outline rear w/nice flat ledge for one handed manipulation, and front has larger vial w/green/yellow photoluminescent 'lumilight' paint in a ring around it like the Trij HD's, look's like a little dimmer fiber optic in daylight, dim light is awesome w/both glowing and night time just like strt-8 w/those CRISP and clear Trij vial's. Excellent sight's with an excellent trigger that isn't any different pull weight than stock 5.5 trigger just really put me more 'in tune' (best way to describe the triggers is you feel more connected with the pistols' trigger) with my Glock's!

I don't like Glocks or plastic guns much - owned and did not like the 30 or the the 19 - but an LE buddy convinced me to try the 34. It's great. I'm a civilian bullseye shooter and into 1911's, but this has changed my mind about Glocks. After a couple of hundred rounds getting used to the trigger, adjusting my grip and figuring out the sight picture, I'm keeping everything in the black at 50 feet with ordinary commercial 124 grain ammo. It's manageable (what makes a good pistol IMHO), no blast, easy recoil, smooth cycling, so your eyes stay open. The gun is an easy shoulder holster carry because it's light weight. It points and balances perfectly in the hand. The stock sights make a good sight picture (I know they're kind of cheap, but they work well). This is a much better experience than I had with previous Glocks. If you're not a Glock enthusiast, this would be the one to try. No hangups, stove pipes or light strikes. Very pleased.

+aboulevardeir I have been warming to Glocks after trying one years ago and absolutely hating it (I was a CZ75 fan at the time). I was recently converted to polymer pistols by the Walther PPQ. If you haven't tried that pistol, do yourself a favor and just check it out. It was a revelation. Thanks for your comment. I'm planning on checking out the 34 on the strength of your and Mrgunsngear's recommendations.

The question to ask is if the material removed matters. So far, I am not hearing about frame problems. To be honest, other than the initial RSA, Ejector, and Extractor problems in the first year I haven't heard many bad things at all. From those using the 35/22 I hear much better feedback than from the Gen3. It simply depends on your needs. Todd Green concluded his use with this: 71,260 rounds 19 stoppages (+1 w/non-LCI extractor) 0 malfunctions 3 parts breakages.

8 years later. Hello Mr Guns n Gear. I just purchased a new Gen 3 Glock 34 2 days ago. It was a good bit cheaper than the new Gen 5 version. I’m happy with the factory trigger. It’s advertised weight is 4.5 lbs. I will replace the factory sights with TruGlo fiber optic tritium pro sights. All my Glocks and my old Springfield Armory 1911 compact ultra carry wear these sights (low profile). Yeah you could say that I’m sold on them. I find them to be quite visible in low to no light situations while the fiber optic glows like neon in daylight. I cannot recommend these enough. I’m looking forward to getting this pistol and the Gen 5 G 45 (another recent purchase) to the range soon and getting in some familiarization and practice time in. Thanks for your usual good review. Be safe.

I am sure gen 4 stuff will proliferate the market as time goes on. The fact is, they changed the gun and in the Gen4 series some improvements have been made, but not from the stand point of the 9mm. Grip preference doesn't make one better than the other. I use the Gen4 19 for CCW. The frame is more rigid and the slide has greater support but the rails. As to reliability, there seemed to be issues with early models, but not so much now.

good vid! and I see that you talk about the extra velocity, so i ask this of every g34 vid that i see, but can't get a good answer. with a 124 +p or 135 +p round, what can the longer barrel do for me? is it that effective? can the extra inch improve ballistics or is the extra 50 fps only better for accuracy? I understand that the extra sight radius improves accuracy, but I am asking about the extra velocity and what it means for the projectile itself.

Just adopted a G40 10mm to sleep in the departed G34 bed. Thank you. Oh‼️ a G19X just came home. Baby bear to papa G40, momma G17L. Happy Glock family. 💥⚖️☮️🇺🇲👍

You make some good points. Stainless is over-rated in my opinion when one considers the strength aspects of carbon and nitrocarburization making it very resistant to rust. The M&P may well be a good gun for police or armed citizens, but for something like the military I think the Glock reigns supreme for a little while longer. Most Glocks getting to 200k have been rebuilt to the point of the gun barely being the same one. But, I guess they technically have the same serial number band lol.

Myself and a friend female shot the 17 and 34 today. She's shot a gun once many years ago, real girlie girl, and she hit the torso at 20m with 85% ratio. I haven't shot a pistol myself for 25 years. I pegged shots at 20 and 30m in the torso, as well as a sheet with 4 small targets. We had no idea this is a comp pistol. The guy at the range, a cop and trainer, suggested it. I actually did well with both, while the female like the 34 better due to less wrist snap. Dealer said $570, said his cost was $530, so the 10% mark-up was $580, said if we both buy one, then $10 off on each.

Good vid. Thx. Quick question... Is the lower of a G34 (or for that matter a G35) identical to a G17 (or G22) (other than the slide release and connector)? In other words, can I buy an aftermarket long slide/barrel for my G22 and effectively end up with a G35? Keep up the good work.

Was considering a Glock 17L, or a Glock 34 Gen 4--for the long barrel. FFL dealer told me they are hard to get, since they only make those from time to time. Which of these two do you consider to have better features. (P.S> I'm a Gram- who started shooting about 2 years ago,- and love my Glock 19 Gen 4,- but want one of the two I mentioned above for the sight radius. Could you please advise?!! Thanks. I've never had an issue with it at all and can't see it being an issue in any real world situation. Unless you were intentionally trying to make it lock up I don't think it ever would unless you only clean your guns ever 25,000 rounds or something like that.

I will admit though, G34 has advantages over M&P Pro in the barrel dept. Glock's is 5.3'' vs. 5.0" and Glock is cold hammer forged with polygonal rifling. I believe the M&P is neither. (not sure about the cold hammer forged part though)
