Its all subjective. I personally like the Finger Grooves of the gen 3 & 4. The front serrations are a great addition on the gen 5. Im right handed so I don't care about the ambi slide stop. I personally don't see the Gen 5 being a Huge Improvement over the gen 3 or 4 to me personally.
@Nunya-_-22 күн бұрын
What about the new marksmen barrel tho? The accuracy may be better and they have a different firing pin and trigger reset
@JadedGLORY26898 ай бұрын
For myself I love the Gen 3s and the Gen 4s especially the models with that gorgeous finish that was so damn tough. I like the finger grooves and I also use the Medium Sized Beavertail backstrap so I can get up really high on the pistol without getting bit. If I was doing it all over again and had no Glocks, then I would probably go with a Gen 5 for my 1st Glock.
@Geth-vk10 ай бұрын
After shooting tens of thousands of rounds from both, I slide more towards the gen 5 The trigger is more responsive, I personally like Ambi support and grooveless design. But, also one of the points that I personally noticed, is that a gen 5 is easier to rapid shoot (has less muzzle raise after a shot).

Gen 3's & Gen 4's for me. They feel better in the hand to me and I like the finger grooves as opposed to a smooth bar of soap, and I think the front slide serrations on the Gen 5's look Derpy as Hell. I will be buying one Gen 5 gun though, and that will be a Glock 47 as a nightstand gun.

My favorite is the Gen 3’s for 10mm hunting guns. I like the fact that swapping out different weight single-recoil springs for different loads is so easy. The springs are readily available through a few different companies like Wolff Sprimgs, Brownell’s and Midway. For Glocks that I don’t tend to shoot anything but factory loads, then I prefer the 5th gen. This would be for my 9’s and .40’s. I was interested in the gen5 Glock 20, but I’m still waiting to see what the jury says about it’s performance. My next Glock is the Glock model-40 10mm (long slide), as they don’t make it in Gen 5, nor Gen 3.

Similar sentiment here, waiting to see how the gen 5 10mm plays out (woods carry/hunting)

@@stepheno.2730 Since I made that comment 8 months ago, I did purchase a gen5 Glock 20. It shot everything I fed into it. CCI 200fr TFMJ, Fiocchi 180gr FMJ, DoubleTap 180 JHP, Underwood “Black cherry” 200 and 220gr gas-check coated lead hard-casts and all out of the Glock factory polygonal barrel (which is what the “Black cherry” line was designed for). No failures on four separate range days, with no cleaning in between. I just oiled the gun one time before the first range day. The Gen5 is now a woods carry gun for me. …and yes I did CLEAN and re-oil the gun after all of my range testing sessions and before I made it my new woods carry piece. 😎

In my opinion Gen 4 is the most underrated generation. Because of generation 4, Glock became more accessible to people with smaller hands, lefties, and frame improvements were made so that a weapon mounted light didn't crack the frame. We wouldn't have gen 5 without gen 4. Also, regarding the trigger difference: Like any generation of glock, the glock gen 4 trigger will be kinda stiff initially. This is normal. 500 rounds and beyond, the trigger smooths out like glass and becomes light and crisp. Just break her in. Gen 4 ftw.

I have had little experience with Gen's 3 & 4 only that I really dislike the finger grooves which are uncomfortable & impractical for gripping firmly, especially when wearing thick winter gloves. My experience is with the Gen 5 & the grips are comfortable even for a gloved hand & the front slides are IMO a big improvement!

idk why but my G19.5 shoots way better than my G19.4 did. My Gen 4 was very snappy compared to other handguns. Maybe it was the finger grooves? I didn't mind them at the time but maybe it actually did work against me. Unless they changed the RSA in some way like spring weight or something. Maybe my G19.4 was a lemon too. I did have a failure to eject under normal conditions early on. I sold it only after a few months for a VP9T. So far happy with my Gen 5 except it points high. Cut a backstrap in half and it helped a bit. Gunna try a grip force adapter.

I measured barrel walls and it’s definitely thicker on gen 5 than gen 4. I assume it’s should hold higher pressures and hotter rounds and less prone to kabooms.

I have a 17 of both gen 4 and gen 5. Im confused as to why the slide on this gen four has rounded of edges on the front of the slide where as mine looks like a brick. Not complaining about the bricky glicky, just curious.
@HammerStriker Жыл бұрын
Glock started rounding the nose of the slide in Sucompacts first then over time transitioned that rounding to more of the lineup. It does make it a bit easier to holster. So it will depend upon where they were in that transition with a particular instance.

Would I ever switch from Glock to M&P or XD? Absolutely given enough reason. If one of those were hands down or undeniably better or superior without question.

But a Gen 4. Way more backward compatibility with previous gen’s What I liked about Gen 4 is the fact that if both of those guns were Gen 4 you could literally switch out the 40 cal barrel with the 9mm one and shoot two different calibers through it. Not with the Gen 5. And I’ve owned both and miss by Gen 4
