I prefer in person communication. I feel like a conversation is incomplete without seeing the person. To my generation: Cut down on the tech use. Find a good balance. Talk to your friends in real life more than you do digitally. Aim high. Don't listen to that trash trap music. Don't be cocky. And for fucks sake don't shame the other half of our generation that live life to the fullest by being stupid.

Gen Z seem a lot more mature and conservative than millennials but I think this is because they have grown past the SJW thing. I feel as if they may even rebel against some aspects of digital life because I also notice that they are a much more 'real world' and experience driven generation, much more keen on physical activity and the outdoors. They actually do the things millennials pretended to do.

I find the years of generation z really strange, how can a 24 year old have the same experiences as a 6 year old? The 90s was a completely different time to the 2010s.Even someone born in the early 2000s(like myself born in 2001) has had a very different childhood to kids today, my childhood was technology free it wasn't until 2011 that I came into contact with a smartphone or a Mac. Technically a parent and a child could be from the same generation and be classed as being one thing or the other when in fact they have lived completely different lives and lived through different things.
@mariolorenzobernardo32786 жыл бұрын
So tell me, how can a 38 years old (oldest millennial and almost hitting the age of 40) have the same experience with a 23 year old (youngest mellennial and a YOUNG adult)? Imagine, they're 15 years apart from each other.
@ryukomatoi8772 жыл бұрын
The official US website says 1980 to 1999. Their main reasoning is because this time period has kids who grew up knowing life without smartphones and not having to rely on them in childhood. The smartphone didn't become widely popular until the end of the 2000s into the early 2010s most people didn't even really know about or have them back then. I think anywhere between 2000-2004 would be perfect for where the gen z to start and it should end in 2015. Post 2015 is gen alpha.

First of all, social media like snapchat are complete dogshit. The whole 8 second attention span thing is bullshit. I'll watch a youtube video for half an hour or have a conversation with my friends in real life for even longer. I hate the digital lives of my generation, especially social media. My generation need to see the world around them more, instead of living a fake life behind the screen. Thankfully a lot of people in my area and generation are like me too. We need a good balance between technology and actual real life. If I had my technology taken away from me I'd be kinda distressed that all digital entertainment has been taken away, but I'd still find reason entertainment with my friends, by going to the park, enjoying the hot summer days, and building snow sculptures in winter. Any other z's here that are like me? Please give me hope. I really don't want us to be millennials 2.0 That's the last thing we all want.

ThatWittyWolf I somewhat agree. I think as long as there's a desire for definitive knowledge and these resources are used for that, it's an amazing source. Something to think about: *Gen-Z want to start their own business and be employers rather than employees:* Parents and educators better start getting them ready for the hardships of that. *Gen-Z want to make their hobbies their jobs:* Good luck. The world needs ditch diggers too. If your hobby is collecting loot boxes on video game platforms your value to society is limited. In order to maintain a functioning society we need a vast mix of different jobs being done consistently, many of which are not hobbyist in nature. For example, running accounts for a firm is a professional task not a hobbyist task. It requires training, discipline, structure and hierarchy. With the boomers retiring from the labor trades we're going to need a lot of plumbers, electricians, carpenters, installation technicians and machine operators. We need farmers, construction workers, soldiers, police and firemen, boat captains and service crews. We need people who wipe the young, old and sicks butts and open them up to fix them. Automation is still nowhere near a stage where it can replace the majority of many of the key jobs required to make civil life possible. Additionally, people in the behavioral sciences and psychology are making strong arguments that stripping too many people from work and will have disastrous consequences on people, which could cause massive civil unrest. I'm a millennial and I will warn you that similar things were said about my generation and the trends were similar but less in overall representation and we are screwed. Over 30% of millennials live at home with their parents after spending huge sums of money on some college degree which has put them in a lifelong debt cycle. Many millennials can't get into the full-time job market for a variety of reasons. We are a depressed, single, childless, poor generation mostly without purpose other than staring into some electric box where we consume mostly useless information and consumerism. We have built a gig economy of selfies and vlogs in which as expected only the charismatic, attractive and socially intelligent move forward. This has left many people feeling inadequate, jealous and empty. We barely talk to each other in real life. We walk down the street looking into our phones. Let that sink in. Best of luck.

I consider millennial anyone who remembers a time without a user-friendly internet. When I was born (92), computers were essentially useless. And when I was a young kid, the internet was too slow to use for much of anything. Computers were clunky and not very usable. As I grew older, I remember technology advancing to the point where one could actually make substantial use of computer devices for the first time. It was really an amazing experience to see such incredible advancements as a kid, but generation z doesn't know anything other than there being an accessible, user friendly internet. Many even had smartphones while they were young kids. When I was a child, there was no such thing as a mobile phone (or at least not that I ever saw or heard of, there probably was, it just was cost prohibitive). And smartphones were nonexistent. I didn't even get a smartphone until a couple years ago actually, because I simply didn't feel the need for one (just used a flip phone). You wouldn't meet someone born in the late 90s who had that type of relationship/approach to technology.

I would say you are Gen Z since you wouldnt remember a time before 9/11, or social media. Ultimately its what you identify with more and what cultural things you relate to. I am 2003 and I would 100% call myself a Gen Z over a Millennial although there are a few things im more of a millennial with than a Gen Z'er (for example i prefer experiences over possesions) Im currently doing a project on the generations and I just believe that 2004 is a mid-gen z person. My opinions though and ultimately you cant define a generation exactly. Also if you identified as a millennial you would have a much different upbringing and different social views to early millennials born in the early 80s you know? But as I said multiple times, its up to you and what you personally relate to more. Hope this helped!
