Fighting a squad of Space Marines on a planet using the Death Star isn't fair, but yet if you put a 40k fleet equipped with Space Marine boarding parties against the Death Star, it may not stand a chance... @NemFX4 жыл бұрын
I do wish you would have taken me up on the offer. Corrections: Mark 1 armour was used by the Thunder Warriors not Space Marines. It could be used by them if modified, but the Thunder Warriors are substantially bigger than a Space Marine. They also barely existed at the same time. Most Thunder Warriors were dead/killed before the Space Marines were up and about. The armour was named for the Emperor's symbol, but you picked the wrong one. It was originally just lighting bolts. The raptor was introduced to the Emperor's heraldry AFTER the armour was given it. Then when his symbol ended up on the mark 2, he changed it again to the aquila. Then he realized his damned kids kept stealing his symbols and stopped changing it. The picture you used for the mark 2 armour is actually a picture of mark 3. The mark 2 helmet could move, the mark 3 couldn't. The mark 4 was actually harder to produce, it was just harder to break so they lasted longer. That's why the mark 5 suits usually end up with pieces from the earlier versions. The mark 5 armour wasn't an official mark. It was given that status due to lack of supplies. It was a stopgap repair job. Mark 6 was a limited release, officially. The Night Lords didn't have access to it at all, leading them to mistake Corax's psychic power as something the suits could do, when they melted out of the shadows. Mark 6 was originally planned to be the official mark 5, but the Heresy happened. Primarch. Prime-ark. Primaris. Prime-erris. So, if you'd wanna take me up on that offer, source; I was a consultant on some of the books.

NemFX As long as you aren’t Matt Ward in disguise.
@alphariusomegon44324 жыл бұрын
Just a couple corrections: The picture used for the Mark II was in fact a picture of Mark II armour. The Mark II helmet was locked in place but still allowed to wearer to move their head and see as if they weren't wearing a helmet to compensate. The Mark IV was actually easier to produce than previous Marks. It was designed to be while retaining protection. Bonus points for being lighter too. The reason Mark V was made was because the Loyalists weren't supplied as many Mark IV's as the Traitors. Even then, the lack of supplies is what made it harder to repair and not the action of repairing it. Mark 6 was not limited to the Raven Guard, they simply helped test it and so were given the first batch. The other Loyalist Legions were also supplied them. Important to note that technically the Alpha Legion had some of the first working suits of Mark VI as they had typically stolen the designs and developed it themselves, creating the Corvus-Alpha pattern which they used openly during the Heresy. Once Mars was taken, Mark VI suits were distributed to the Traitor Legions present.

@@alphariusomegon4432 I was hung up on the mark 2 suit having the mark 3 helmet. The mark 4 does have some conflicting lore, it definitely is lighter than mark 3, but it was harder to fix, the monomolecular studs are essentially taking a rivet gun to something to repair. I never said the mark 6 was exclusive to the Raven Guard, but as of the timeline in Konrad's primarch book, the Night Lords don't have even a single suit of Mark 6, so they think it has some crazy technological edge.

Some minor corrections from what I know: -Mk1 armor is Thunder Warriors only, they are basically proto-Space Marines (bigger and stronger, but unstable as their modification are... Unreliable) -Mk2 and Mk3 helmets are now movable, as in the new Horus Heresy lore, they can remove it entirely; it was in the old days that they could not move at all (just look at the new models) -Mk4 is, and still in the 41st millenium , considered the pinnacle of power armor, and still produced on some forge worlds (the Red Scorpions is a chapter who is only wearing Maximus armor), it's expensive to produce but extremely reliable -Mk5 doesn't really exist officially, it's just a mismatch of armor pieces from different marks for field repair as the supply lines were f*cked up during the Heresy; the image we know of the Mk5 is more of a "standardization" for modelism purpose Also, most of the traitorous legions have plenty of Mk4 armors, because before Horus revealed himself as a traitor, he used his role of War Master to send better stuff to his brothers he knew would follow him; the Sons of Horus (and so the Black Legion), is entirely geared with Mk4 (it's in a short story of which I forgot the name, talks about a magos on Mars that is pursued by a self conscious robot); some legions however used other marks, like Iron Warriors and Death Guard, because of their fighting style, so they have almost only Mk3 as they rely on full frontal assault almost exclusively

Just to re-iterate, 4:49 is completely incorrect, Only Mk I which rarely if ever saw action with Astartes, (as it's Thunder Warrior armour.) isn't used by any Space Marine Chapter. Mk II Crusade and Mk III Iron * ARE * . Mk II is still used by say the Death Guard as well as a variety of Loyalist Chapters such as the Space Wolves for ceremonial purposes. In a more broad range, it's still used. (White Dwarf 129) Mk III sees even more use within many chapters still using it from the Blood Ravens, Imperial Fists and the latter's successor chapters, to Iron Warriors and Death Guard Traitors. No idea where he got the "are no longer use in any Space Marine chapters" from, seems a bit of headcanon got mistaken for actual canon. Tidbit, the Squat bit about Mk III got retconned, so reading stuff straight off the fandom isn't a safe bet.

My nephew lent me many of these books a few years ago, (the Horus cycles + several others,) and I really enjoyed them they were far better as science fiction than I'd somehow expected them to be and very well written. Not enough stamina or concentration at my age now to stay the course over the long haul, but still interested enough to enjoy the video. My nephew, (who fancied himself as bit of Space Marine I think,) loved them and even I who was only along for the ride still liked them a lot and I still do.

Autosenses, you don’t need a HUD if you got the information fed directly by the black carapace to your brain, after awhile a space marine would instinctly know, say, the range or heading of a target. I suppose SoB and other non space marine armors do include HUDs as part of the interface.

Critiques... 1. During the Heresy armor section, the picture was of Abbaddon the Despoiler, not Horus Lupercal. 2. I THOUGHT I read somewhere that while the MkIX armor was skipped because the MkX is for the Primaris Astartes, the MkIX would be used for the same armors but scaled for normal Astartes.

@Cure4Living Basically, it's like what comic books do with say, Dr. Doom or Batman, with them pulling something out of their ass that would allow them to say, kill Darkseid with a bullet or siphon the power of gods. Tech advancements are nice when they're done piecemeal: say a civilization learned how to travel 120,000 lightyears in several hours because they've been flying space cruisers for a thousand generations. Or a civilization that learns how to use solar energy to replace fossil fuels. But what comic book superheroes do, and what Belisarius Cawl did, was fucking ridiculous. It breaks 40K lore in half, and it goes to show Games Workshop doesn't care or give a shit about the lore. They don't see it as a canon that can bind them, they can easily pull something out of their ass to invalidate it. Not to mention that the very concept of Primaris Marines goes against everything the Imperium stands for. Religion-induced echnological stasis? Here's an improvement on technology. The Space Marines are the Emperor's finest? Some rando Techpriest made the Big E's finest look like Stormtrooper recruits. Space Marine chapters are very protective of who gets into their organization and have very specific rituals and training that candidates have to pass before being introduced into their chapter? Random Primaris Marines are introduced into these Space Marine chapters instead of being restricted to the Ultramarines or having them make brand-new chapters for Primaris Marines. This is why I barely care about 40K lore anymore: all of it can be easily undone if GW wants to earn more moolah.
@HolyknightVader9994 жыл бұрын
@@user-dp7xd5lq8l It would have been better if Cawl was assigned by the Emperor to do it. Say the Emperor, before being interred into the Golden Throne, gave orders to Cawl and commissioned him to create better Space Marines, and in doing so, the Big E gave Cawl all the research and authority he needs to do it. 10K years later, and he's accomplished it. But when the Primaris Marines are rolled out by Guilliman, the Inquisition and the Church throw a hissy fit and say they're tampering with the Emperor's creations. Cawl then produces a writ signed by the Emperor himself, stating that he acts with the direct authority of the master of mankind, which makes the Primaris Marines totally legal. The first Primaris batches are given to the Ultramarines, while the rest make their own Primaris Space Marine chapters. The older Space Marine chapters receive all the resources they need to make their own Primaris Marines, either by improving older Space Marines or making new ones, and that's how you can explain a Primaris Marine coming from the Black Templars or the Blood Ravens without overlooking the fact that the Space Marine chapters are very secluded societies.

@@user-dp7xd5lq8l all im saying is Fabious bile. He proved he can be "just as good as the emperor" by augmenting marines to 'm"perfection" and cloning primarchs. Its not that hard to inagine that crawl has more than one personalities/A.i.s in him and one of them was originally tasked and given the info for primaris. In a lot of cases the mark V armour was makeshift rather than something deliberately designed. As an example is in the horus heresy book "deliverance lost" after the dropsite massacre on Istvaan V the remnants of the ravenguard legion escaped the planent along with their Primarch Corvus Corax. During their flight back to terra the techmarines had to repair the power armour of the surviving marines. The techmarines found that they were quickly running out of spare parts however due to the fact they had to abandon most of their vehicles on istvaan (predator tanks, land raiders etc) as a result they found they had an abundance of parts for armoured vehicles which were adapted into the design of the MK4 plates the legion was mostly using
