@@muninrob they might also remember what it means to be human, too. physically, they are human, they may have nineteen extra organs as Space Marines, Primaris Marines have twenty one and a half. but genetically and psychologically is where the "they may not be human anymore" part comes into effect. if a Sentinal from Marvel, the thirty foot robots made to hunt and capture/kill mutants (whichthe X-Men had a number of encounters and close calls with) saw a Space/Primaris Marine, it would probably go after him. psychologically is where most of the tampering and damage has been done. they've had enough of their personality suppressed, that they move and act like machines in almost everything they do. it is because of such things that many view the Space/Primaris Marines, Custodes, and even the Emperor, as sub-humans, mutants, freaks, and outright abominations.

@@masterchief991 Space Marines and Spartans are roughly equal in many areas I.E their heightened Strength and Intelligence. Their armor is a prime example of their relative survivability. Each able to survive insane levels of pressure. Sustain the wearer in a zero g vacuum. And tank hundreds of shots from most weaponry. Though most Halo Weaponry pales in comparison to 40k weapons. Each armor could at the very most only take 2-3 shots from a Bolter.

Minor note, for people who don't know what it means: when he described the pauldrons as "auto-reactive", that means that they can raise, lower and generally reposition themselves as the wearer sees fit (so they could sit super high and protect the sides of the neck and head, and then when they turn to look to one side, drop low enough to not block vision).

Correct me if mistaken politely please. Space Marine Armor is basically a cross between GARCT Commando Katern Class Armor and UNSC Mulnir Armor, that has armor that has all the advantages of both armor types and materials. The only difference being it's a step down in protection from Mulnir Spartan Armor since it's at least mostly made of Plasteel. Although it's a step up in protection from Dura steel.

*alright time to nitpick.* I've heard that one of the reasons why experiencedspace marines sometimes take their helmets off is because the space marines have enhanced senses which, for some of the most skilled marines, can actually be far more reliable than the equipment in the helmet. This is fairly solid work. I know information about the power armor isn't readily available, and some of it can be confusing. I have heard people saying the Astartes can't move unless the armor is powered. This mixup comes from the heavier armor called the Terminator armor (It's basically a bunker suit). Where it has been stated that Astartes will wear the armor on their back, while recovering from injuries. (That's first of all, injuries sufficient to take an Astartes out of action. And wearing the armor as added weight while they train/recover.) I also like all the information and history you can read from their armor. (At least from the Imperium ones... I don't know if there are any rules when they turn to chaos) Like mentioned, their chapter (Team) on the left shoulder. While their right shoulder shows their "role". (There was a "Black Templar" shown around the 6 minute mark. Since they have their chapter icon on both shoulders, I extrapolate that they see this as their role as well. Deathwatch is also an interesting case, they are selected from among other chapters, and while they have the Deathwatch shoulder on the left, they move their former chapter shoulder to the right side... this is the history/experience they bring to their new team). There are many more details, but as I feel like I'm just ranting, I'll stop for now. :D

Be sure to cover the Terminator, Centurion, and Primaris armors and their variants next vid! Also, feasting is something practiced by many Space Marine Chapters, but only when not on the march. I'd like to point out that the bond between an Astartes and their Power Armour can be so intrinsic that if a brother perishes sometimes the machine spirit of the armour will refuse to accept another in some cases the armour is laid to rest along side a fallen brother should his body be recovered sadly it's not often a brother can be brought home so we must take his wargear & geneseed and leave the body behind yet we take solace in the knowledge his soul now rests with the Allfather For Fenris, For Russ, For The Allfather 😔

The main reason why some space marines don't wear helmets is to distinguish them as leaders. In the early days of the tabletop game, there wasn't much variation between the miniatures, nor much in the way of detail. Each space marine was a lump of metal and superglue vaguely resembling the illustrations. Having one of your otherwise-identical models be bare-headed was a good way of seeing, at a glace, where your leader characters were.

Thanks for the feedback. A lot of people made the Thunder Warrior criticism, though, as far as I can tell, Mark I Thunder Armor wasn't worn exclusively by Space Marines, from what I can tell, at least the basic structure of the Mark I was worn by Thunder Warriors, Techno-barbarians, etc... What am I missing?

@@GenerationFilms It was worn only by thunder warriors I believe, it's why it has the unification symbols on it ...while custodes were around at the time and the space marine legions were beginning ... A lot of what you talked about was the way power armour works with a space marine. In that picture the thunder warrior looks fairly similar to a space marine so might confuse some new beginners. While there are different marks of power armour worn by the mutated and modified other examples would be the ones inquisitors,high lords and sisters of battle use. MK2 I believe was the first armour space marines wore...according to current lore I believe.

@@GenerationFilms Mk 1 power armour was more akin to armour used to absorb damage instead of providing the user with any higher advantage ... The armour was only built to deal with the war on terra,as were the thunderwarriors, with their strength coming more from their body than their plate.

What American Ben says about the pauldron in 7:30 is actually seen in the fan film Astartes, i believe you will see it in Ep 3. also at 8:25, this is seen and is most obvious in Astartes Ep 5.

another reason Space Marines remove their helmets: the Tau Empire's Ghostkeel Battlesuit. it jams the sensors in the helmet of every Space Marine in the area, rendering it completely invisible to them. only way to tell it's there with the helmet on is to watch their surroundings for anything rustling, impressions in mud and sand, foot steps in water, twigs, branches and trees snapping. or just watch as it kills off their battle-brothers/cousins.

Regular Power armor isn't void hardened, but is able to void seal itself from what I recall.

So when you do the video on the different marks of Power Armour, will Tactical Dreadnought Armour (also know as Terminator Armour) be covered in that video as well or will it end up being it's own separate video? I would suggest a separate video on Terminator Armour as you already have almost a dozen different Power Armours to discuss and adding another 10 (if you include that 2 different models for the Custodes) would make for a very long video.

You take a jab at Space Marine Hygiene but I recall in Horus Rising a...I think a remembrancer... Commented how he expected them to smell badly but was informed that Loken did not smell badly at all so much as she only really picked up on the scent of the materials he was using to clean his armor.

The other thing that separates and makes the 40k space marine power armor so scary is that the armor also has about 30k years worth of refinement. I'm sure if the martian or halo power armor had the same amount of time put into refining it they would be equally as frightening as the 40k power armor. For people who aren't in the know, I said around 30k years, because the Imperiums technology started to stagnate after the Horus Heresy, which happened during the 31st century.

From the lore I have read it is uncommon to see a Space Marine enter combat without his helmet on. Not unheard of but much less common then then table top would have you think. I believe that myth was created for the table top. Making it easier to see your Captains and Lieutenants.

I always thought that the helmet is portrayed as unequipped in visual sources about W40K because people might want to see a space marine's facial emotions during events. Otherwise, some characters in the books generally want to perceive their environment without untrustworthy senses of their helmet. For example, helmet lenses might be untrustworthy because you may not see psychic entities with them even if they are standing right in front of you.

Man 40K power armor is on a whole other level. The only thing it lacked was a shield as standard and now it has that as well. Mark X, Artificer, Aegis and Custodes Armor crush all. Then Primarch and the Emperor's armor is almost comic comicbook level of power.

If at all possible, you should consider making an overview of the different Space Marine factions, chapters, or legions. You could even compare them between each other like you did with the best navy series. Just a suggestion. Hope you stay safe!

1:29 that was not an Astartes, that was a Thunder Warrior, they were precursor to Astartes that the Emperor had killed by the Custodes at the end of the unification wars.
