My favorite Warhammer story is when a group of Space Marines ran out of ammo whilst fighting some Orcs, so they just shouted "BANG BANG BANG" as they jostled their guns about and the Orcs actually died due to their reality bending minds. The Orcs solution was to just chant "I'm a tank I'm a tank I'm a tank" over and over. Absolutely amazing.

In fact all Orks have material desires in the form of Teef, which is used to pay the Painboyz to NOT do surgery on them, paying the Mekboyz to get weapons, and pay the cooks to make Squigs, fungi, and the odd Gretchen that got too close taste good. The Orks really do have a surprisingly intricate monetary system, which additionally is immune to inflation as Teef rot over time.

The only flaw that DA ORKZ have,is that they like killing each other as much (if not more) than killing the other factions of 40K. If the DA ORKZ would unite under one single Warboss and create a massive WAAAAAAGH!!!! they would steamroll the entire known galaxy. The Tyranids would may pose a challange,but even they got their arses handed to them,during the Octarius War. It´s the first recorded instant,where a Tyranid Hive Fleet did a retreat. The Octarious war actually never ended in the lore. It is still ongoing, and both sides are thriving. For every victory the Orks won by brute force, the Tyranids won one elsewhere in the sector, whether by brute force of their own, by stealth, or by biological adaptation. More and more Orks are pouring into the region for such a big fight, and the Tyranids are harvesting huge amounts of potent Ork biomass and using it not only to rapidly grow their fleets but also to create new strains of massive siege beasts which are now beginning to pop up elsewhere in the galaxy. Kryptman's Octarian gambit of luring the Tyranids and the Orks into fighting one another has backfired seriously, strengthening both species.

Orks can and do die (in great numbers) but those that get "medical" attention often survive damage any other race would regard as 100% certain death. The "sewing a head back on" example is one you can read in the Ork army books very far back. Yeah, no human is likely to survive that for a few years yet, we need fancy stuff to connect all the nerves and such. An Ork doesn't care about nerves - he probably doesn't have any as such.

The Orkz, weren't the green tide we know of in 40k. When they were first made by the Old Ones, they were the Krork who were master engineers and could make almost anything. They knew about their degrading and genetically engineered themselves to remember how to do some things while they slowly became the Orkz. This is the reason why Orkz know how to make machines and weapons despite their intelligence.

Orks do know Tactics and Strategy. There are Warbosses and Warlords that manage to outmaneuver some of the brightest Tacticians in the Imperium, like Ghazkull Mag Uruk Thraka for example, or the entire Blood Axes Tribe (that actually use planning rather than blindly charging the enemy). It's more like Animal Cunning than actual book smarts we'd normally associate with Strategists.

Also there are the blood axes. An ork tribe that is shunned by all the other tribes for actually using strategy. They set up ambushes, will often flee instead of getting mowed down by enemy fire and actually copy their foe's tactics to use it themselves. They are usually a bunch of backstabbing scumbags though and they aren't that big. So a blood axe warboss leading a waaaagh (Ork crusade) is a rare thing.

It's more likely that no one actually expects orks to perform any tactic other than "charge headfirst and bash things till they die". When the one in 10,000 ork bosses actually manages to pull off a basic flanking maneuver, it's always a surprise. It actually borders on heresy in the Imperium to even suggest orks are capable of anything resembling sound battle tactics. Also, i don;t remeber orks actually taking prisoners or slaves. Though, in addition to being forced to work in the absolute worst conditions imaginable, they are shot a bunch so the orks can laugh at how they react to pain, head bashed in or gutted just because some orks felt like it, and of course eaten. In The Beast series (I'm not sure which book unfortunately) we actually see orks growing humans like cattle.

Honestly the greatest advantage of the Orks is their biology. Might makes right isn't just a behavior, but quite literally the more an Ork wins the bigger, tougher, and more powerful they become, unlocking abilities, technology, and behaviors that can't be easily matched. In the war of the Beast the Ork warlord the Beast was larger than a Primarch, just as powerful, and used technology that gave the best of Imperial tech "at the time" a hard run for its money. And even then an Eldar would comment that the Beast and his forces would be like children to the Orks of the past i.e the War in Heaven. So which logically means that if one were to become successful enough to reach the levels of the original K'orks then the galaxy wouldn't stand a chance.

Commissar Yarrick - also known as the Old man of Armageddon - is famously believed by the Orks to possess the 'evil eye', and with it the ability to kill most Orks with only a glance. Yarrick actually had one of his eyes replaced with a cybernetic prosthetic incorporating a small but powerful laser in order to capitalise upon Ork superstition, but the truth is that, since the Orks think he can kill lesser Orks with only a glance, he probably could still do so even without his occular laser. Of course, this is also something of a double edged sword, since Yarrick's now legendary status amongst the Orks makes him a desirable enemy for high status Ork Warlords, and he has become the favoured 'git' (a preferred enemy/best friend who wants to kill you in Ork culture) of no less an Ork that the Prophet of the Waaagh himself, Ghazghul Mag Uruk Thraka, which has somewhat complicated Yarrick's military career.

There's a story of how this believe things into reality backfiring on them. I read that there was a time when Guardsmen were under heavy siege from the Orks with almost no ammo left. orks have a singular flaw in that their heads explode if you let them get angry enough. Consider it a funny relief valve, if a waaaagh gets too worked up, and there aren't any weird bois around to channel and disperse it, the waaaagh energy builds up to the point their heads actually explode, and the psychic rebound chains among orks, so entire warbands could have their heads explode all at once. otherwise, orks are as good or better than everybody but they don't usually have the focus or drive to press that advantage and their gods mork and gork are among the very few god-tier entities that directly support their followers and are considerably older and stronger than any individual or combination of the four major chaos gods so they won't fall to chaos either because their gods literally laugh off any attack from chaos.

You forgot an important bit. Orkz gain strength the stronger their enemy is. An ork that kills more grows in strength and size. This even extends to intelligence, as they face against stronger more technologically advances races their tech improves.

its not that Orks can just "live anywhere" its that they bring their entire self sufficient ecosystem with them. Orks are constantly shedding spores, these spores can grow into more Orks(fighters), Gretchin(labor), or Squigs (food)

One of the biggest blunders in Warhammer... They are FUNGAL, yet have PLANT like traits like photosynthetic skin... Fungi are NOT plants! Fungi are not even closely related to plants, fungi are closer related to animals than plants... And our dear host does the same mistake: He says they have fungal genetic traits and then in the same sentence says: "thus the green skin. This means they have some plant-like behaviours." That is completely bullshit. That would be like saying "He learned to drive a car, thus the skis on his feet. This means he has the ability to ski on snow."

That part about Orks having no concept of strategy and tactics is misleading. Orks can be INCREDIBLY cunning where it matters, and combined with their illogical unpredictability makes it possible for them to actually outsmart even a more intelligent and knowledgeable opponent. Just ask the Necron Phaeron Imotekh the Stormlord, a master strategist who could predict and counter just about every other commander on the battlefield - except the Orks. Or just about any overconfident Imperial commander.

The only major flaw i can agree with is they aren't unified. But that's orks in a nutshell. Orks get larger and stronger as they fight. They also get smarter and a few (mainly freebooterz) do trade and conduct limited diplomacy. How powerful an ork threat is is usually tied to how powerful and big the warboss is. As like i said, bigger and larger orks are typically smarter than your avarage boy. And can rival even the brightest imperial officers.

Funnily enough as an ork gets bigger and more orks join them the more their collective psyche can wish things into being, to the point where there technology at several occasions has surpassed that of many of the other races, such as when they were Krorks (the orks ancestors created during the war in heaven) or the period know as the war of the beast where several orks had gotten to the point where they were essentially krorks, united many of the orks in the galaxy and pushed humanity all the way back to terra and even sent a "diplomat" to the high lords of terra demanding they surrender.
