The Imperial Guard does have Stormtroopers and they're considerably more "elite" then Space Marines. There are more than a million Space Marines and only 10,000 Stormtroopers. These men are trained for combat there entire lives to the absolute peak of human physical and mental capacity (think Marvel's peak human,) and are given specialist weapons as standard issue, like Hot-Shot Lasguns (which are notable because they actually work,) and full body carapace armor. So picture an army of Captain America's with Laser Guns and heavy armor and you get the picture. IIRC they are technically under the command of the Inquisition instead of the Astra Militarum. The reason the Imperium can get away with such small numbers of these special forces is because the guard actually retrains they're own veteran forces as "Grenadiers," and while they aren't technically Stormtroopers themselves they'll serve a similar role for their respective regiments. The most famous of these Grenadiers are Cadia’s Kasrkin or City-kin. Everyone knows Cadia makes the best soldiers, and the kasrkin are the best of the best, routinely giving even full on Stormtroopers a run for their money. They aren't genetically perfect clones, mutants, or even Spartan experiments. They're are simply regular men who have trained their whole lives for one thing and one thing only, War. They are bar none the best pure blooded humans fighting in the 41st millennium, period.

@@spartenkiller456 Stormtroopers aren't more elite than SM's by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm not sure where you're getting the number of 10,000 Stormtroopers. They aren't genetically modified(admittedly, there is some variance on this, some might be slightly modified, especially in inquisitors retinues), their armor is nowhere near comparable to SM's(carapace plate is what SM scouts wear, it's comparable to skitarii armor and straight up inferior to power armor, including SoB's power armor), their firepower is at best comparable, and their experience is likely to not be as extensive, especially if we start delving into the more elite/veteran elements of SM chapters. They are basically in a category comparable to commissars, Imperial Guard Veterans, Sisters of Battle or Skitarii for capability. As for Generation Films question, I do think Imperial Guard(you don't even have to go specific, their diversity is both a strength and weakness) is probably the most honest comparison. They're the Imperiums "regular army" with good amounts of training, solid equipment(they tend to be grossly outgunned by everything they face, but even the humble lasgun is devastating in lore) and basically doing most of the fighting for the Imperium, though the sheer scale of WH40k just makes it difficult to compare even in this case. The fighting in most other universes just tends to be much smaller scale/localized.

The one thing I never understood, was why the best bounty Hunter has the best genes, realistically, training diet and exercise has more to do with Jango Fett's deadliness than anything remotely close to genetics, other than him being over 6feet tall, if I cloned myself and spent 10 years training my clone to be the perfect soldier, my clone would be on par with the clone of jango

The clone troopers are my favorite part of Star Wars along with the mandalorians. If Palpatine wasn’t just using the clones to kill the Jedi they would have been better equipped, better trained (even though they were some of the best trained soldiers of all time) and would of just been all around better. Blame the damn GAR and palpatine for those flaws. Jango’s ultimate goal was to kill the Jedi the way they killed so many mando’s and the clone troopers were damn fine at putting Jedi 6 foot under.

Magnificent, aren't they? ...Well, mostly. They have some pretty significant limitations, as pointed out. I imagine they're monstrously expensive to form and maintain, which limits how many their government can send. Even just the ten-year maturation period for a fresh batch would not be cheap: all that cash to feed, educate, clothe, house, train, equip, and generally make the clones ready for battle has to be laid out years before they're ready to fire their first shot in battle. Also, I'm not sure why being based on Jango Fett's DNA is such a plus. He may have been a good bounty hunter, but was he also secretly an Olympic athlete or competition-level shooter or something? Is there something about being a good bounty hunter, especially one who seems to prefer working alone, that translates to being a good soldier in a large conventional army? And most seriously, they're _separate_ from the Republic at large. That hurts things in two ways. Oh, crowds on Republic worlds cheer them and I'm sure the 'hero' images of them in their gunships and striking white armor sell plenty of war bonds, but as Alan noted, the clones don't really understand the Republic they were born to die for. They fight because it's their job, and they don't know anything else - which is more than a little creepy that the Republic would be comfortable with that. The other problem is that from the Republic's perspective, they can feel like the whole Separatist problem is being taken care of, and they don't need to worry much about it themsevles. It's not like they or their friends or relatives are off fighting, so there's no sense of ownership of the conflict, or loyalty to the Republic that would drive them to fight for it. Granted, that was kind of Palpatine's plan - that if the people don't really care much about the Republic, they won't feel too strongly about him dissolving it and declaring himself Emperor - but it means using clone troopers is not the choice of a stable government.

Jango Fett wasn't just a *normal* bounty hunter, he was venerated by many in the galaxy as being the best bounty hunter w/ foremost combat skills and a highly strategic brain. There was, in fact, one battle between the Jedi and his fellow Mandalorians - where Jango was completely devastated by seeing the Jedi slaughter his fellow comrades. He ended up murdering scores of Jedi with bare firsts in that battle. In the end, Count Dooku had chosen him for a reason, indeed. He killed many Jedi in his past, and had proven himself to be among the best out there in combat. There's a reason why the fact clone DNA is derived from Jango Fett is a considerable plus. The Kaminoans also took Jango's DNA and made it so that the clones would be more complacent to orders and the military chain of command, be more disciplined, etc - and in essence, it was all "translated" into a "large, professional army."

Why is It a big conversation of what happens to the clones after the war... it's like the revolutionary war. A army fought against another army the severely outnumbered them... but when they won the war, they kept the army intact incase of something like the revolutionary war starts. So the Republic would keep the clones but in time they'll phase out

+Vesius Verabis Yes they would. Space Marine armor is ceramite, which is a poor mix of titanium (a light armor in Star Wars) and ceramics. Dark Troopers are designed to blow up bases and vehicles. Space Marine armor isn't gonna last long against Dark Troopers, some of whom are designed to take on Jedi, who are very fast with Force Speed.

You're going to have to specify in these ratings if you rating which space marine is superior in base statistics or relative to their universe. 40k exists on a ridiculous whole other scale so they'd win by default, but relative to their own universe this would be a much better comparison.

If I am to rank the Republic Clone Troopers by what has been said in this video for their flaws as an efficient fighting force, I’ll have to decide to give the GAR and its Clone Troopers a four out of five. Even though I love the Clone Troopers close & dear to my heart. There are some things that are keeping me from giving them a five out of five, such as that they are only created from one single location, and that they are made from a single strand of human DNA, which can be severely crippled by a biological dicease made to attack that said strand of DNA, and that they are literally just children in adult human vessels. However, I’m still very excited for as to what will be mentioned in the video about the top ten Clone Trooper advantages. Great video either way Generation Films, I can’t wait to see for your next video.

Any competition with 40k in it always wins. So they are disqualified for having ungodly amounts of dekka. The runner up is tough choice between UNSC marines and Clones/Storm Troopers. One had superior tech and the other has experience in true warfare for a really long time. The soldiers in Avatar , Colonial Marines and Starship Troopers from my basic understanding of their lore are (for a lack of a better word) naive or inexperienced when it comes to interplanetary warfare. They don’t do well in alien hostile environments without enough firepower to level said environment into a parking lot.

Are we doing movie or book starship Troopers. In the books, the Cap troopers were chucking nukes around like hand grenades and moving a kilometers in their leapfrog formation. Though, if we use the book, the Mobile Infantry are more like a WH40k Imperial Guard unit with Stubbers. Very, very big difference.

Also the clones had terrible training. Sure the ARC Troopers and Clone Commandos were extremely well trained and well-equipped. However the Clones specialist units made up of at most 10% of their army. Most were just the standard batch. And of these, the majority were given less than 1 year of training before being shipped out. Unlike other armies, however, they couldn't even focus this year of training into something useful. For the Clones, part of the training also had to include things like basic arithmetic, writing, and social skills. This meant that there were a large amount of Clone soldiers that didn't even get to practice in simulator battles before thrown into the battlefield. They were canon fodder, nothing more. They also were obedient to a fault. They didn't know how to think for themselves, or apply past experiences to their current situations. They were often outsmarted by the droids, despite the droid army mainly being made up of ineffectual leaders and droids programmed with literally no tactical options available to them. The movies and shows make them look cool, but if you really look at their real strengths and weaknesses, and how they struggled against such an inefficient enemy, it really shows how terrible they were.

@@DeltaFidelias Clones trained their entire lives mate, for the first batch that was nine years from "birth" to deployment, I think you might be confusing Clone training with Stormtrooper training, which was shorter and more focused on tests... clones, even regular troopers, went through years of intense mental and physical training, a clone trooper was a very versatile and powerful soldier, The Clone Cadets arc displays this well, it shows the lives of five random clones, from training on Kamino to becoming Arc troopers. Their loyalty was a fault, but it was specifically bred into them for the specific purpose of Order 66, and they were not just blindly Loyal, if you haven't already, watch the Umbara arc, it shows the more human side to the clones, where they get tired of battle and question the orders they're given. On droids outsmarting them, this was usually a case of poor decisions or a lack of communication from their Jedi leaders, and let's not forget that Tactical droids were extremely adaptive and very smart. Seriously, it's pretty obvious you haven't watched The Clone Wars, if you had, you would give the Clones(and the droids) a lot more credit, because that show really explores them a lot more in depth than the movies, Episodes 2 and 3 kinda just use them as cannon fodder for big epic battles between huge armies, but in TCW you actually see the more strategic side to the Republic and over time you grow to actually like the clones as people, rather than just cool suits of armor.. You can always tell who's watched the Clone Wars when you're watching Episode 3, because normal people don't care about the clones, but I swear to god I got a tear in my eye when Yoda started cutting down the 501st troopers.... I know they're just nameless numbers in the movie, but when I see the 501st I still think of Rex, Fives, Kix, Jesse, Hardcase and Dogma.

If you go with Imperial Guard for WH40K you'll likely need to look at the Karskin soldiers and Storm Troopers. Any chance these factions have of winning go out the window when it comes to adding in the full might of the Imperial Machine that is the Empire of Man. It was geared to be ridiculously OP from the beginning which makes it so other settings don't stack up against 8ft tall better-armored-than-a-tank super soldiers that fire full auto rocket-propelled grenade rounds.

I’m a massive Star Wars fan but logically 40k wins unfortunately. There are about the same amount of Imperial space marines as there are clones if not more as most of the chapters don’t stick to the codex ( rules of how many are allowed in each chapter). Every space Marine has the following. One 3 lungs in case one gets puncture. Two an extra heart if one is casually ripped out of you, oh and don’t worry about blood loss as space Marine blood clots in seconds. Three they also have a gland in their mouth that allows them to spit acid. They also have a special organ that filters out poison so they basically can’t be killed through sabotage. Four they are fused to their armour making them super agile despite it being incredibly heavy and well armoured. But then again the average height for a space Marine is about 7 ft. ( fifth) because of this there standard issue weapon known as a bolter fires water bottle sized projectiles, it’s basically a fully automatic rocket launcher. I’m really annoyed that 40k is in this because it’s to unfair and I want Star Wars to win. The 40k universe is to crazy to be compared with Star Wars. Btw most things in the 40k universe can take a bolter shot and shrug it of. If it was fired at a clone the best you would find would be half a limb. HUMANITY FIRST!!!!!!!

bolter projectiles are 1 inch wide, and about 3 inches long, not waterbottle sized, they are rocket propelled though
