@susieq98012 жыл бұрын
@@kori2287 - Agree. When he sings, his eyes are so expressive, often even closed or looking skyward, and reflect the lyrics. He sang with his heart and soul. He was often criticized for his eccentricity, perhaps at times justifiably so, but if we were all alike the world would be extremely boring. He was also the most philanthropic and socially active, something few know about him. He even wrote a beautiful orchestral piece, the Titanic Requiem, the last year of his life, without being able to read music. Just visited his grave in Thame two weeks ago and the flowers, photos and tributes from all over the world are overwhelming over ten years since his death. He was very active and much loved in the town where he lived.

They had a practice of the primary writer singing the lead. Even tho all 3 might have writing credit, it was about who brought in the idea.If the idea was born while together, there are more harmonies, alternating leads, and mixed vocals leads. Barry and Robin were the dominant idea men, but all 3 usually completed the writing together. If Mo is singing lead, he usually wrote words and music, provided all vocals, and played all instruments except drums and orchestra on the studio recording. They had a preferred practice of writing in the studio and then immediately recording, because it allowed for creative spontaneity. In a 60’s interview, their manager Robert Stigwood said that Mo could instantly arrange whatever Barry and Robin wrote, which was a key to their ability to work the way they did. It so interesting how opposite Robin and Mo were, even tho twins. Robin preferred writing lyrics and thrived on vocals, while Mo was known to not like writing lyrics, and thrive on instrumental aspects and trying every new gadget that cane out. Mo was also extremely extroverted, and Robin just as equally introverted, while Barry is a more balanced and complete package all in one. Mo’s ability to naturally play all instruments by ear, place the third harmony, and instantly arrange are totally genius qualities that were super important to their body of work. They are said to have had a sort of telepathy when writing together, with many of their hits being written in just 4 to 10 minutes. For all of their professional competitiveness, they all seemed to be each other’s biggest fans. One of Mo’s most important roles for the groups was to be the “MAN IN THE MIDDLE” (name one of his songs on their final album before he passed) of his two very competitive alpha musician brothers. He could be the most Rock and Roll of the 3, while also excelling at Country. Please react to his song HOLD HER IN YOUR HAND.

My Sweet Mo!! He had a beautiful pure voice. He could sing right into your heart. The man could do the highest of harmonies and down to a low baritone, almost bass, range. This is from 1997's "Still Waters" album. There are many songs there for you to delve into also. He could be very sensual and emotive; even a little suggestive (Yeah for me!). The clip you have is from the "One Night Only" concert. If you want a different Mo lead, try "Dimensions" from the 1991 "High Civilization" album. I love the hard edge and the percussive sound. Mo is like a fireball coming right at you, and you can hear him sing low register harmony on the choruses. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d57NdGmLd6h1ibs

Love me some Mo! He deserves all the accolades and love showered on him-- the Man in the Middle with amazing musical skills. Robin and Barry were the Alpha males who were competitive, and funny, amiable Maurice kept them in line (mostly successful, I think because they never broke up the group after 1970).
